AI/ML Engineer

The position depends on the contract being awarded.

The company is looking for an AI/ML engineer to design, build, test, evaluate and deploy AI/ML models and ensembles across generative AI, classification, prediction, computer vision, natural language processing (NLP) and reinforcement learning. The work supports the sponsor's initiatives and draws on AI/ML algorithms, software development and cloud computing.

The company is a private defense and government solutions business founded in 1989 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia. It works on advanced technology systems and mission support, including data science, software development, network engineering, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Build AI/ML models and ensembles from the sponsor's data and requirements.
• Preprocess, clean and analyze large amounts of structured and unstructured sponsor data to judge whether it is useful for training and testing models.
• Work with staff officers to plan, build and run experiments that check model performance and system soundness.
• Deploy and maintain models in cloud environments with attention to scalability, reliability and security.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines, SQL configurations and performance metrics for AI/ML applications.
• Record and share methods and results in the sponsor's formats and templates. This may include analytic publications, ad-hoc reports, data visualizations, slide decks and briefings, or documentation in GitHub repositories.
• Teach staff about AI/ML topics on an ad-hoc basis.
• Act as the AI/ML subject matter expert for the sponsor's initiatives.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Proven professional experience with Python or R for AI/ML development.
• Proven professional experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or Keras.
• Proven professional experience with version control systems such as GitHub.
• Proven professional experience with major cloud providers, including building and deploying AI/ML solutions in the cloud.
• Proven professional experience developing and deploying AI/ML models, including model tuning, experimentation, validation and benchmarking.
• Preferred: experience with explainability and interpretability techniques for AI/ML models.
• Preferred: familiarity with the sponsor's enterprise services, security controls and data management practices.
• Preferred: experience with front-end web frameworks such as Flask.
• Preferred: experience with Tableau for visualizations and dashboards.
• Preferred: experience with verification and validation test benches.
