AI Engineer

Description

This is a full-time Information Technology role for an AI Engineer subject matter expert, classed as a regular employee position.

You will help put in place a new software system that changes how USTRANSCOM tracks finances and moves supplies, aiming for clearer financial audit trails and smoother logistics.

The team is in the implementation phase, so you will be working on delivery rather than early planning.

Responsibilities

• Build AI solutions and get them running in production environments.
• Own AI pilot programs from the initial idea through to delivery.
• Work with other teams to connect AI capabilities to systems already in use.
• Advise colleagues on AI technologies and recommended practices.
• Help with full-stack development projects.
• Tune AI models so they perform well and scale.

Requirements

• You have a proven track record of putting AI solutions into live production systems.
• You are skilled in several programming languages, for example Python, Java, C++ or JavaScript.
• You have deep experience with cloud platforms, mainly Azure and AWS.
• You know how to design and manage APIs well.
• You understand both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• You have worked with SAP ERP systems.
• You have used deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• You know natural language processing and computer vision.
• You are familiar with DevOps practices and tooling.
• You have worked with agile development methods.
• You have 10+ years in a lead software development role, preferably in a DoD or government setting, plus 5+ years of software engineering focused on AI and ML.
• You hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Conditions

The role is full time and requires a Secret clearance at minimum to start.

Travel of up to 10% within the continental US may be required.

Final salary depends on factors including location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant experience, specific skills, education and certifications.

Because the role can be based in more than one location, the salary range shown is the national average.

The proposed salary range is $82,100-$172,400.
