Description

The company makes legal data intelligence software, including an AI-powered cloud platform used by large law firms, corporations and government agencies for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries and data breach responses.

The team builds the AI platform behind the company's aiR products. It runs large-scale LLM-driven document review workflows and a gateway that routes model requests across cloud regions and sovereign environments while managing capacity, throughput and cost. The work combines distributed systems, LLM infrastructure and reliability engineering.

The role is hybrid or remote.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, build and run distributed, scalable, secure full-stack cloud services that process petabytes of data each week.
  • Extend backend services and data pipelines, and build fast, accessible user interfaces.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable code that delivers value to customers.
  • Work with teammates and product partners across a range of backgrounds to solve problems and build AI-powered legal data solutions at very large scale.
  • Review designs and code, giving feedback that improves quality and maintainability.
  • Support service reliability, including on-call rotations and incident response.
  • Improve throughput, latency and cost per document: capacity headroom, token efficiency, and model routing and failover across regions.
  • Work with product teams building on the platform to shape its APIs and move new models and capabilities into production safely, including in government cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • At least 3 years designing, building and operating cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Hands-on work with APIs, event-driven architecture and data platforms.
  • Comfort building cloud-based distributed services.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using modern tooling and CI/CD.
  • A focus on security and reliability, and strong collaboration with engineering, product and design.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C#/.NET, with production experience running services on Kubernetes in a major cloud.
  • A record of debugging and improving production systems using distributed tracing and metrics, and of owning a service others depend on, including on-call duty.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with full-stack development and modern UI frameworks.
  • Familiarity with performance or cost optimization.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude Code.
  • Experience building on LLM APIs (Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic), including prompt and model versioning, evaluation, streaming, token accounting, or working within rate limits and provisioned throughput.
  • Experience with durable workflow engines (Temporal, Airflow, Step Functions) or high-volume batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Interest in agentic systems such as MCP and tool calling, and in the infrastructure that keeps them safe in a regulated environment.

Conditions

Hybrid or remote work.

Total compensation includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

Expected base salary range: $103,000 to $155,000.

The final salary depends on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications and internal pay equity. Offers at the top of the range are not typical, to leave room for future salary growth in the role.

The company is committed to fair and equitable pay.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, health and retirement programs, and wellness resources.
  • Discretionary time off, parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers, and two annual company breaks.
  • Home office stipend and an equity program.
  • Volunteer opportunities and company-sponsored charitable programs.
  • Growth across the stack, from distributed systems to AI-enabled workflows.
