Description

This posting is in English because the role involves frequent work with the company's international subsidiaries, and English is the working language.

You will be an engineer on the Platform team within the Accelerator, based in Lyon.

Platform teams build the shared foundations and core building blocks that product teams rely on. The team does not generate direct business value. Its job is to make other technical teams more productive and to build reusable cross-project work that many teams can use.

A platform can exist at several levels: shared CI configurations and rules, infrastructure as code and tooling to deploy and monitor cloud resources, development environments with shared tools and libraries, input on global system architecture and security, and core abstractions such as data models, business modelling, and APIs or SDKs.

The company is a global healthcare business. Its digital and data area aims to deliver medicines faster, let business operations scale smoothly, and free internal teams to focus on science and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the developer experience.
  • Reduce the technical overhead for squads and pods.
  • Build proofs of concept for better standards, then roll out the ones that work.
  • Support and help other teams when they need it.
  • Build tools such as CLIs, libraries, infrastructure as code and workflows across a wide range of environments.
  • Take on any work you believe will make a real difference.
  • Write documentation and recommendations on building cloud-native solutions.
  • Promote the solutions you build and help teams adopt them.

Requirements

  • You do not need to match every point below. A few is enough, but expect to work on most of them day to day.
  • Curiosity and a drive to keep learning.
  • Experience working with cloud providers.
  • A good working knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK or similar.
  • Experience building libraries and tools.
  • Knowledge of complex API systems, including networking, redundancy, security and logging.
  • Willingness to work across teams, help them and support them.
  • Strong English, which is mandatory because the team is international.
  • Experience aligning several teams to reach shared results.
  • A service-minded, flexible and positive approach, with initiative and self-motivation.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Clear written and spoken communication.
  • 6+ years of experience. Do not hesitate to apply with less if you feel you have the knowledge, as this is not a blocker.
  • Experience in an environment that is innovative and works to break down silos.
  • Plus: knowledge of transversal areas such as security, optimisation and process.
  • Plus: a bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or engineering. No diploma is required.
  • Plus: experience in the healthcare industry.
