Description

The company is a European digital services group with 28,000 consultants and specialists, present in 19 countries, working closely with regional customers and major software publisher partners.

This is a hands-on Wintel system engineer role that helps customers modernise and optimise their Microsoft environments, with a main focus on Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server and hybrid cloud.

You take part in the full project cycle, from analysis and planning through implementation, migration, validation and documentation.

You work largely on your own, owning your projects and bringing in specialists when a technical problem calls for them.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, run and improve Microsoft-based infrastructure.
  • Lead and carry out complete server migrations, including Windows Server upgrades and modernisation work.
  • Migrate Active Directory, covering domains, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and authentication services.
  • Deploy and support SQL Server, including platform upgrades, Always On Availability Groups and Windows Failover Clustering.
  • Move application and file servers while protecting business continuity and keeping downtime to a minimum.
  • Work across on-premises Microsoft systems and cloud services in hybrid setups.
  • Plan migrations with cutover steps, rollback options and post-migration checks.
  • Find the root cause of complex faults and deliver fixes that last.
  • Work directly with customers, understand their technical needs and own delivery.
  • Write clear technical and as-built documentation and pass knowledge on to operations teams.

Requirements

  • Solid background in Microsoft infrastructure and several years of hands-on experience.
  • Extensive experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
  • Preferably, experience with Windows Server 2025 as well.
  • Strong knowledge of AD DS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects (GPO) and FSMO roles.
  • Understanding of Kerberos, service accounts, authentication mechanisms and Microsoft PKI / Certificate Services.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2019 and 2022, Always On Availability Groups and SQL platform migrations.
  • Knowledge of Windows Failover Clustering and business-critical environments.
  • Experience with IIS, File Services, DFS, NTFS permissions, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and RemoteApp.
  • Operational knowledge of VMware vSphere.
  • Good understanding of hybrid Microsoft environments and how they integrate with cloud technologies.
  • Proven experience with end-to-end server, domain, application and file server migrations.
  • Experience with migration planning, cutover execution, rollback strategies, technical validation and documentation.
  • Around 5-10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on, and willing to take ownership from start to finish.
  • Able to manage complex infrastructure migrations independently.
  • Strong at troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem solving, with a practical, solution-oriented approach.
  • A clear communicator with customers and technical stakeholders.
  • Structured, with attention to documentation, knowledge sharing and quality.
  • A team player who knows when to involve specialised expertise.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. French is an additional asset.
