Description

The company is growing. It has passed $500M in ARR and is still accelerating, has appeared on the Forbes Cloud 100 four years running, and works with partners including Oracle and Red Bull Racing.

The company makes a market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a cybersecurity category built for how people and AI agents work now. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 firms to leading AI companies, use it to adopt the SaaS and AI tools their teams need.

This is an existing vacancy. The Vice President of Platform Engineering reports to the CTO and sets the strategy, organization and execution for the core service and development platforms. You will build secure, reliable and scalable foundations that let teams ship, run and own their work independently. You will run operations, drive delivery and grow a high-performing team.

Engineering, Product and Design are adding AI across the software development lifecycle without giving up quality or security. Engineers use AI coding tools to speed up reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers summarize user research at scale, and designers prototype quickly with AI-generated mockups. Humans stay accountable for every significant decision, and AI output is rigorously evaluated before it reaches customers.

The company is demanding, moves fast and expects excellence. It wants people who take on hard problems, seek feedback and want to make an impact. It is not a fit for anyone who wants a comfortable routine.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the platform engineering vision, strategy, objectives and roadmap current, aligned with company strategy and customer needs, and informed by market trends, competitors and customer insight.
  • Lead multi-year changes to the engineering architecture and operating model, building shared platforms, supported paths and common practices that raise reliability, security and developer effectiveness and let the company scale.
  • Lead technology-adjacent strategic initiatives that deliver top-tier engineering results, from ideation and innovation through implementation and ongoing improvement.
  • Design and evolve the organization, ownership model and operating mechanisms the strategy needs. Make clear who is accountable for the platforms the team runs directly, and create governed, supported paths so other teams can run their own products.
  • Raise engineering standards and operational excellence across the company, including safe, measurable Agentic Engineering practices. Build the platforms, controls and evidence teams need to adopt these practices and stay accountable for results.
  • Set clear, measurable outcomes for the organization and report on progress, quality, adoption, operational health and business impact. Use the evidence to guide investment, priorities and org decisions, and give the executive team and leaders clear, actionable insight.
  • Build strong working relationships across the company to find needs, align strategies and widen your impact. Work across the Technology organization and beyond to drive change, act on critical feedback, and present technical updates in senior leadership meetings, covering initiatives, execution, industry trends and their implications.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team by coaching and mentoring direct reports, assessing talent and planning how to prepare people for future business needs.
  • Grow the leaders across the Technology organization through direct mentorship, sponsorship and participation in sibling organization events, and by leading alongside partner teams such as Product, Security, People and Talent, Operations and L&D.
  • Drive the high-performance culture, building psychological safety, inclusion, ownership and agility. Champion initiatives that improve the employee experience across the organization and the company.
  • Work with Finance to own the organization's investment and capacity strategy, balancing current operations, future transformation and targeted growth. Direct resources to the highest-value outcomes and adjust plans when evidence or business priorities shift.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Preferably experience building and running systems at the intersection of IaaS, SaaS and the cybersecurity industry.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent proven work experience.
  • A track record of owning critical platforms and services across their full lifecycle, including adoption, customer experience, reliability, security, cost, incident response and ongoing evolution.
  • Experience delivering and running cost-effective, mission-critical infrastructure and platform systems for internal and consumer-facing products, with a focus on operational efficiency and market expansion.
  • Strong business and technical judgment in systems and software engineering, and a record of leading an organization and culture that applies best practices and drives innovation.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to set and carry out plans across many objectives and deliver measurable results.
  • Extensive experience building and sustaining operational excellence, including process and system optimization, scalability, and creating and managing performance metrics.
  • A record of working with C-suite leaders and cross-functional teams to agree on strategic priorities and reach shared goals.
  • Excellent communication. You can explain complex ideas clearly, build trust, inspire wide audiences and align diverse stakeholders.
  • A record of leading multi-year transformation programs in complex, fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
  • A record of building, developing and scaling high-performing teams.
