Description

The company is a global software firm, part of the Renesas Group and headquartered in San Diego, California, that is changing how electronics get designed and built.

Its cloud platform lets distributed teams work together across the whole electronics lifecycle, from design through manufacturing, by linking people, workflows and data so that teams ship reliable hardware faster.

The team is hiring a UX Researcher to shape end-to-end experiences across the platform.

You will keep product choices tied to what real users need. You will lead the sessions, test ideas before they are built, and keep findings searchable so they do not disappear into old chat threads or personal notes. You will partner with designers, product managers and engineers from early problem framing through post-launch checks.

The role is hands-on and gives you wide latitude. You will build and run the research practice yourself rather than carry out a plan someone else wrote.

Responsibilities

  • Stay in regular contact with users so the team always has fresh input within a couple of weeks.
  • Manage the full participant process: recruiting, screening, booking, incentives and consent.
  • Run interviews, contextual inquiries, diary studies and surveys.
  • Test ideas and prototypes through usability tests and concept tests on wireframes, prototypes and live features.
  • Turn open questions from designers and product managers into clear research questions.
  • Pick the method that fits each decision, including fast, lean studies when speed matters more than depth.
  • Present findings that state what to change and what each option costs.
  • Create and maintain a searchable insights database, tagged by product area, user segment and theme.
  • Link new findings to earlier ones so patterns become visible over time.
  • Make the repository useful day to day for the whole team, not just a place to store reports.
  • Log which insights drove which decisions and revisit assumptions that turned out to be wrong.
  • Coach designers and product managers to run their own light studies well.
  • Share findings in short readouts, highlight videos and workshops that people will actually use.
  • Challenge decisions made on opinion when evidence exists or is cheap to collect.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years in UX or product research, or in a closely related role with substantial hands-on research work.
  • Strong grounding in qualitative methods and enough quantitative skill to design a survey and read product analytics.
  • Experience testing prototypes at different fidelities and understanding what each stage can and cannot show.
  • Ability to explain findings to a sceptical stakeholder in about five minutes.
  • Comfort with uncertainty and with shaping research to fit real deadlines.
  • Familiarity with research operations tools such as Dovetail, Condens, Maze, UserTesting or similar.
  • Professional-level English.
  • Experience building an insights repository from nothing.
  • Background in engineering, PCB design or another complex technical domain.
  • Basic working knowledge of Figma and design workflows.

Conditions

Equal opportunity applies to this role.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package comes alongside the salary.
  • Full details of the benefits will be shared during the hiring process.
