Test Engineer (Top Secret Clearance Required)

Description

The company needs a test engineer to provide Agile DevOps support for mission-critical systems. The role requires a Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.

You would work on a high performance computing and mission software program, helping shape, build and run test strategies for cloud-based environments. Projects run for the long term and use current technology. Team members can reach the owners directly in an open, close-knit team.

Responsibilities

• Work with product owners, development teams, architects and QA managers to design, build, run and maintain test strategies that serve mission goals and product requirements.
• Follow a SAFe Agile workflow by joining daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Review and carry out test requirements, run test cases and help validate releases.
• Apply testing methods and troubleshooting to find defects, keep test automation frameworks working, join test plan reviews, and record results and quality metrics.
• Help keep overall system code coverage above 80% and improve software quality, performance and ongoing practice through careful testing.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree with relevant experience, a Master's degree with relevant experience, or equivalent experience in place of a degree.
• Hold DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 or Level 3 compliance, such as Security+.
• Hold a Top Secret clearance and be able to obtain SCI access and a CI polygraph.
• Use DevOps practices to build, maintain and keep improving test automation assets, with configuration control, traceability and repeatable runs.
• Use Jira and Confluence to track requirements, tasks, test artifacts and project documentation.
• Build, test and integrate software in cloud development environments.
• Take part in SAFe Agile work, including daily standups, sprint reviews and functional testing.
• Work with product owners, software developers and QA teams to shape test approaches, with a focus on automating regression testing.
• Create, maintain and assess automated test suites that check application function and raise coverage.
• Run and document testing for Jira-tracked development work.
• Analyse test results and give development teams actionable feedback.
• Test within commercial cloud platforms such as AWS and OpenShift using DevOps tooling.
• Test both back-end and front-end application processes.
• Script in Python or a similar language to automate tasks.
• Run CI pipeline tests with JEST, Cypress and/or Playwright.
• Apply software performance testing practices.
• Write, run and document test cases and result sets on an Agile cadence.
• Preferred: Trace test failures back to the code changes that introduced defects.
• Preferred: Review code check-ins to judge their effect on system functionality and likely bugs.
• Preferred: Have software development or integration experience in service-oriented (Cloud, SOA, Web Services) or virtualization environments.
• Preferred: Know unit testing, continuous integration tools and Git version control.
• Preferred: Use SQL queries and database analysis to validate application data, investigate defects and protect data integrity.
• Preferred: Have experience with DoD Aeronautical Datasets.
• Preferred: Write AWS CloudFormation templates.
• Preferred: Hold active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
