Description

The company is a federal contractor supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This full-time role focuses on checking that the system works as the business requirements describe, finding defects, and making sure changes do not break existing functions.

The work covers enhancements, fixes, and releases moving through development, test, and production environments, and it supports system quality, stability, and compliance. The team wants someone with strong analytical skills who wants to build them further in a demanding, high-visibility setting.

Responsibilities

  • Run manual test cases for the financial management platform across several environments.
  • Read business requirements, user stories, and design documents, then write and maintain detailed test cases and test scripts.
  • Test complete business processes, such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget execution, and procure-to-pay.
  • Run regression tests after enhancements, defect fixes, and releases to confirm the system remains stable.
  • Log, describe, and track defects in approved tools, and work with developers and functional teams to get them resolved and retested.
  • Work with functional leads, developers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and confirm test coverage.
  • Support the Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) team.
  • Take part in test planning and test readiness reviews.
  • Make sure all testing follows VA quality assurance standards and documentation rules.
  • Keep requirements, test cases, and defects linked to one another.
  • Help improve testing processes, templates, and standards over time.

Requirements

  • Required: You must have experience with the financial platform used on this contract.

  • Required: 3 years of experience in a customer support or testing role, with a focus on functional and regression testing.
  • Required: A solid grasp of the software testing lifecycle (STLC), testing methods, and defect management.
  • Required: Experience writing and running test cases from business and functional requirements.
  • Required: Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
  • Required: Ability to analyze complex business processes and check system behavior against requirements.
  • Required: Careful attention to detail and the ability to spot data discrepancies and system issues.
  • Required: Clear written and verbal communication, including documenting test results and defects.
  • Required: Ability to collaborate well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desired: Good knowledge of federal financial management processes, such as USSGL, budget, and accounts receivable.
  • Desired: Experience supporting or working alongside IV&V teams.
  • Desired: Exposure to automated testing tools or frameworks.
  • Desired: Understanding of Agile methods and taking part in sprint ceremonies.
