Telespazio - System Operations Engineer

Description

Telespazio is a joint venture between the company (67%) and Thales (33%) and a global reference for satellite solutions and services, part of the company Space Division.

The company has more than 3.500 staff in Europe and elsewhere, runs an international network of Space Centres and Teleports, and works across geoinformation, satellite systems and operations, and satellite communications.

You would join the Earth Observation unit in the Operations & Logistics Engineering department, which studies, develops and validates operational and maintenance procedures for complex ground segment systems of satellites.

The work follows space programme standards, mainly ECSS, and where needed architecture frameworks such as DoDAF and MoDAF and practices such as ASD, S1000D and S3000L.

Responsibilities

• Define the System or Mission Operations Concept (ConOps) and nominal and contingency operational scenarios.
• Derive operational and operability requirements and feed them into system design.
• Help define ground segment requirements from an operational point of view.
• Analyse, characterise and model operational processes and mission timelines.
• Set out the operations organisation, covering roles, responsibilities and operational interfaces.
• Write operational products such as Mission or Flight Operations Plans, manuals and procedures for nominal, special and contingency cases.
• Define and set up operational tools.
• Check operational products and their end-to-end consistency.
• Plan and support operational validation campaigns, including running scenarios and system validation tests.
• Support system operations through the mission phases, including Operations Readiness Reviews and Operational Handover.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Aerospace, Electronic, Telecommunications or Management Engineering, with a strong systems focus.
• Junior profile or recent graduate.
• Knowledge of the aerospace domain is preferred.
• Experience in operational concept definition, operational analysis or operational validation of space systems is a plus, even at an introductory level.
• Ability to work on your own, take initiative, and question existing practice to propose new solutions.
• English at B2 level.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Willingness to travel abroad for limited periods.
• Comfortable with software tools and keen to use them well.
