Description

The company builds products, content and services for millions of people, from broadband and broadcast to streaming and mobile, and moves quickly.

You will join the RDK Triage Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer to support release cycles for software on CPE devices running Reference Design Kit (RDK). RDK runs on 100+ million devices across video, broadband and home security.

Release triage ensures that new features and fixes actually reach those devices, so it is central to their delivery.

The development setup is modern and tightly integrated. It combines standard industry tools on cloud infrastructure with open-source code, so the team ships against tight deadlines.

The Global RDK Field Triage team sits within RDK development. It supports software deployment on CPE devices, works with release and engineering teams during integration, and runs issue investigation and live data monitoring to keep products performing well and customers satisfied. You will work with colleagues in the UK, India and the US.

The Global Product team builds the company's TV products and the platforms behind them, including streaming, news and sports apps.

Responsibilities

  • Lead releases that are on time and high quality across a large number of devices.
  • Own the full release quality and triage lifecycle: deployment, triage, mitigation and tooling for release operations.
  • Assess RDK release quality using key performance metrics and field incidents.
  • Work daily with development, release and QA teams.
  • Identify tools and process changes that improve release triage engineering.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.
  • Investigate customer-impacting field issues, find root causes and guide development teams to the right fix.
  • Use strong debugging skills to isolate faults and resolve issues quickly.
  • Monitor business intelligence and telemetry dashboards to spot emerging customer issues early.
  • Work closely with internal engineers and external partners, communicating findings clearly.
  • Follow Agile practices and help improve them.
  • Keep up with new tools and practices in development, data analysis, cloud and monitoring.
  • Help define requirements and suggest improvements to triage tooling and workflows.
  • Mentor teammates and share knowledge as you grow.

Requirements

  • Background in software engineering, systems debugging or technical support, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with Linux and at least one language such as C, C++ or Python.
  • Comfortable with networking and video or digital TV concepts.
  • Understanding of software development practices, version control and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional, global teams.
  • A curious, adaptable mindset and willingness to learn new tools on the job.
  • Plus: WiFi, broadband or video technology experience. Not required.
  • Plus: exposure to data analysis or monitoring tools such as Elastic, Splunk or Datadog.
