Description

The role covers technical advice and engineering support for both external customers and internal departments. You will work with field-based sales staff and internal teams to give accurate information and recommendations that meet customer needs. You will also lead the project management of new product development alongside internal departments.

The company is based in Birmingham, UK, in a purpose-built facility. It designs and makes motion control systems and is a leading manufacturer of hydraulic cartridge valves, custom hydraulic integrated circuits and electronic controls for off-highway industries. The team sits within a partnership between Bosch Rexroth and the company, which combines two hydraulic motion control businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and process customer requests for system designs covering new applications and product development.
  • Support Regional Sales Managers in their customer-facing work.
  • Build full cost breakdowns to support accurate sales quotes.
  • Manage developments from initial concept through to end of life.
  • Write proposals with Application Engineers to meet customer requirements.
  • Recommend lower-cost options for system requirements.
  • Answer technical questions about hydraulic products, their applications and system recommendations.
  • Develop, test and deliver clear reports on custom hydraulic integrated circuits that meet customer requirements.
  • Run hydraulic integrated circuit projects from enquiry to production, including building and testing prototype assemblies to a higher level.
  • Provide on-site installation support and hands-on fault finding for hydraulic integrated circuits and control systems.
  • Take part in senior technical discussions at customer sites.
  • Integrate electro-hydraulic control systems with OEM electronic architecture.
  • Monitor OEM customer websites to identify and support project opportunities and requirements, using company resources where needed.
  • Help production teams create test control plans.
  • Attend overseas sales exhibitions when required.
  • Deliver on-site training on hydraulic and software products.
  • Support warranty returns, including writing the reports.
  • Identify, interpret and apply ISO standards and customer specifications.

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience with hydraulic systems in off-highway, construction, agricultural and industrial settings.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft office software and experienced with MRP systems.
  • Essential: experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of the PPAP process.
  • Awareness of lean manufacturing techniques.

Conditions

Permanent position.

You must show you have the right to work in the UK. The company cannot sponsor workers for this role, and international applicants without an existing right to work in the UK cannot be given a Skilled Worker visa for it.

This is an engineering role, not an IT role. Only candidates with engineering experience will be considered.

Start date can be agreed around your needs. You join the team from the outset and take on responsibility from day one.

Benefits

  • A wide range of varied and challenging work.
  • Flexible working time options.
  • Employee discounts.
  • Sports and health programmes.
  • On-site parking.
  • Room to be creative in your work.
