Technical Lead Elecsys

Description

The team works on core lab assay development for the Elecsys/cobas e instrument platform, across complex global diagnostic projects with major strategic impact and risk.

You will act as technical lead for a laboratory team, bringing scientific depth to diagnostic innovation, R&D analysis, and agile cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Steer technical development in large, global cross-functional projects with tricky interface management and long-term strategic consequences (40%).
• Take part in program and agile ceremonies, work with Product Owners on timelines, and own your technical contributions to PI planning (within the same project scope).
• Guide a laboratory team and help build IVD assays and their components (20%).
• Set the competence standards the team needs to succeed, and align requirements with team leads.
• Prepare data-driven analyses that support key decisions, and assess and interpret product and project risks (10%).
• Track new trends and technologies in diagnostics, suggest IVD applications, and grow technical skills within agile teams (10%).
• Build strong working relationships with internal departments and external partners, and help grow a Technical Lead community across functional customer areas (10%).
• Analyze and interpret R&D results, present findings to key functional committees, and support scientific publications (5%).
• Design and carry out creative solutions that fall outside established approaches (5%).

Requirements

• Master's degree with 5 to 7 years of experience developing diagnostic solutions, or a PhD in Biochemistry or a closely related scientific field.
• Proven experience in assay development or IVD solution design, plus experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
• Experience giving technical direction inside complex matrix organizations.
• Business-fluent English, written and spoken.
• Deep knowledge of IVD assay development and technical solution architecture.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex scientific problems.
• Skilled at managing technical stakeholders, dependencies, and cross-functional alignment.
• Clear communicator and presenter, with good task delegation skills.
• Able to make timely, well-reasoned decisions when information is incomplete.
• Willing to work in agile ways and support cultural change.
• Willing to travel regularly within Europe, especially during onboarding.
