Description

The space systems sector of the company is hiring a Level 4 Systems Engineer for its Redondo Beach, CA team.

This is a systems architecture role for a self-driven engineer on a study, capture, or program execution effort. You will help align technical threads so the team reaches a complete architecture solution.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Work with systems engineers across capability threads and operations to build and refine advanced system architectures and operational concepts that serve mission goals.
  • Create and maintain architecture documents, including the Technical Description Document and CONOPS/OPSCON, that give a detailed, complete view of the system design and operations.
  • Keep documentation accurate on current system status and operational intent so mission planning and execution stay on track.
  • Take part in trade studies that weigh design decisions and shape the resulting architecture.
  • Several efforts use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). On those, use MBSE tools, methods and workflows to build, maintain and validate system models as the technical baseline.
  • Support the systems engineering team in defining and recording the system design, requirements, interfaces and mission or operational concept within the MBSE tool suite.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of engineering experience, a master's degree in a STEM field with 6+ years, or a PhD in a STEM field with 4+ years.
  • Be a U.S. citizen with active SCI access when you apply, and a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and before the start date.
  • Or be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) when you apply, an SSBI completed within the last 5 years and before the start date, and the ability to obtain and keep active SCI access within a reasonable period set by the company.
  • Preferred: experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Cameo Enterprise Architect and SysML modeling, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: enjoy complex engineering problems and work well in a collaborative team.
  • Preferred: strong communication and time management skills.
  • Preferred: attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Preferred: active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) and active SCI access when you apply and before the start date.

Conditions

Clearance is required to start, with SCI as the clearance type.

Travel is required, about 10% of the time.

The role depends on continued business or customer funding.

The position is also conditional on you obtaining final clearances and program access within a period the company sets. After hire, you must keep the clearance level and program access the role requires.

The base salary range is $142,200.00 to $213,400.00. This is a general guide. Pay depends on the scope and responsibilities of the role, your experience, education and skills, and current market conditions.

The application window is estimated at 20 days from the posting date. It may be shortened or extended based on business needs and candidate availability.

Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401k, educational assistance, life insurance, paid time off, employee assistance and work/life programs, health and wellness resources and employee discounts.
  • Flexible schedules are available, such as a 9/80 schedule: nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and every other Friday off.
  • Depending on the position, you may be eligible for overtime, shift differential and a discretionary bonus. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and share company results. Vice President and Director roles may include long-term incentives.
  • The company also provides life and disability insurance, a savings plan, paid company holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
