Systems Engineer - Level 4 (AHT)

Description

This role is for a Systems Engineer at Level 4 in the Space Systems Sector of the company, based in Redondo Beach, CA, with a focus on orbit analysis and orbit determination.

You will join a team that builds advanced space systems.

The role needs SCI clearance before start. Relocation help may be available, and the work involves about 10% travel.

Responsibilities

• Determine orbits and estimate trajectories, and plan missions, coverage and telemetry for launch and early on-orbit phases.
• Plan maneuvers, analyse conjunctions and run collision avoidance operations.
• Know how launch and early orbit operations work.
• Build orbit analysis and mission planning tools that automate planning during on-orbit operations.
• Keep the system flight dynamics and STK models current.
• Verify requirements and analyse orbit and mission coverage needs.
• Work with integrated product teams to match orbit geometry to early orbit testing and verification plans.
• Coordinate with subsystem teams on maneuver execution and reconstruction.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and have 8+ years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field and 6+ years of engineering experience, or a PhD in a STEM field and 4+ years of engineering experience.
• Have an aerospace engineering background.
• Have active SCI access when you apply and before your start date, or hold an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) when you apply and before your start date, and be able to obtain and keep active SCI access within a timeframe the company sets.
• Preferred: Familiarity with STK and Linux environments.
• Preferred: Experience programming or scripting, for example in Python.
• Preferred: Ability to work well in a collaborative team and enjoy hard engineering problems.
• Preferred: Strong communication and time management skills.
• Preferred: Detail-oriented, with strong organisational skills.
• Preferred: Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) together with active SCI access when you apply and before your start date.

Conditions

Full-time position in Redondo Beach, CA.

Travel of about 10% of the time.

Relocation assistance may be available.

The offer depends on you getting final clearances and program access within a timeframe the company sets, and keeping the required clearance and access to stay employed.

Base salary range is $142,200.00 to $213,400.00. The company sets the offer using scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.
