Job Title

As an AI Senior Systems Engineer, you will help shape the future of Systems Engineering at Philips by driving the application of Artificial Intelligence within Systems Engineering and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety Engineering (RAMS) practices.

You will identify opportunities where AI can enhance engineering activities, improve engineering productivity, and increase the quality, consistency, and traceability of engineering deliverables throughout the product development lifecycle. Acting as a thought leader and trusted advisor, you will help engineering teams understand, adopt, and effectively apply AI technologies within their daily engineering work.

Working closely with systems engineers, RAMS engineers, architects, software teams, and AI specialists, you will bridge the gap between engineering challenges and emerging AI capabilities. You will contribute to the evolution of engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices that enable the next generation of AI-enabled Systems Engineering and RAMS Engineering at Philips.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the adoption of AI within Systems Engineering and RAMS practices across Philips.
  • Identify, develop, and scale AI use cases for requirements engineering, system architecture, modelling, verification, validation, traceability, and engineering knowledge management.
  • Identify, develop, and scale AI use cases for RAMS engineering like FMEA, data analysis, HALT/ALT, Modelling Simulation & Analysis, for Hardware and Software
  • Support engineering teams in evaluating and implementing AI-enabled engineering workflows, methods, and tools.
  • Coach and educate Systems Engineers, RAMS Engineers, Architects, and technical leaders on the opportunities, limitations, and best practices of applying AI within engineering environments.
  • Develop methodologies, standards, guidance, and reusable frameworks that enable the effective use of AI in Systems Engineering and RAMS Engineering.
  • Lead pilot projects and proof-of-concepts that demonstrate measurable engineering and business value.
  • Collaborate with engineering, software, data science, and AI experts to translate emerging AI capabilities into practical solutions.
  • Contribute to Philips-wide strategy and roadmap development for AI-enabled Systems Engineering, RAMS, and Digitalization of Innovation.
  • Foster a community of practice focused on innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay at the forefront of developments in AI, RAMS, Digital Engineering, and Systems Engineering, translating external innovations into practical applications for Philips.
  • You're the right fit if:
  • You have extensive experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, RAMS, or Digital Engineering within complex product development environments.
  • You have demonstrated experience driving engineering innovation, methodology development, or engineering transformation initiatives.
  • You have strong knowledge of Systems Engineering and RAMS principles and understand how these are applied in large-scale product development organizations.
  • You possess a solid understanding of AI technologies such as Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, Machine Learning, Knowledge Graphs, or related technologies.
  • You can translate emerging AI capabilities into practical solutions that create measurable value for engineering teams.
  • You enjoy coaching, educating, and influencing technical stakeholders across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.
  • You are comfortable working in a cross-functional global environment that brings together engineering, software, data science, quality, and innovation teams.
  • You hold a Master's degree or PhD in Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • You are curious, innovative, and energized by exploring new technologies and ways of working.
  • You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on mindset and enjoy turning concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
  • You are passionate about helping Philips advance the state of the art in Systems Engineering and RAMS Engineering through the responsible application of Artificial Intelligence.

Conditions

Doing meaningful work should come with fair, transparent rewards. The base salary range for this role is € 93,049 – € 155,081. We determine pay within the range using objective factors, like the skills the role requires, your relevant experience and the responsibility you'll have in this role, alongside internal equity and local market considerations.

This role is eligible for 6% annual bonus with your rewards linked to KPIs and the company’s performance. We’ll share the full approach with you during the interview process, so you can make a clear, informed decision.
