Description

The company is a global media and entertainment business with three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and TV Media.

This role reports to the Director of Global Field Engineering and oversees field engineering for a broadcast operation that runs 24x7x365.

You will lead a team of broadcast and IT support professionals who deliver 24/7 services for live sports and news productions, acting as the technical escalation point for complex events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 10+ field engineers who provide 24/7 broadcast and IT support for live sports and news productions worldwide.
  • Hire, onboard and develop team members so they keep pace with changing workloads and technology.
  • Run regular performance reviews and build a collaborative, inclusive team that performs at a high level.
  • Make sure work follows agreed processes and find ways to improve service.
  • Manage shift handovers so on-air issues and project work pass cleanly between shifts.
  • Oversee incident response, scheduling and staffing across field operations.
  • Own shift performance and service level delivery.
  • Help the Director set strategy and department goals that match News & Sports priorities.
  • Work with News & Sports Planning and peers to schedule field deployments and use resources efficiently.
  • Drive adoption of MFP (REMI) kits and workflow changes while keeping disruption to live operations low.
  • Bring new field technology and best practices into line with global strategy.
  • Travel often to sports and news events to review live productions, advise clients and find ways to run more efficiently.
  • Make sure field gear is ready before major production events.
  • Match scheduling and resource availability to commercial goals to capture revenue.
  • Work hands-on during remote productions when needed, including setup, operation and troubleshooting of contribution and broadcast equipment.
  • Act as the technical resource and escalation point for field engineers on complex or critical productions.
  • Keep your practical knowledge of field broadcast technology current so you can still deploy as an engineer alongside supervision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience deploying and implementing field technology for live and news or sports productions.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire a team.
  • A proven record of supervising high-performing teams, working as a self-starter and owning assignments from start to finish.
  • A consistent habit of following tasks through to completion, clearing blockers early and making sure nothing gets missed.
  • Required: prior hands-on experience as a field engineer or in a live production engineering role.
  • Working knowledge of signal flow, contribution workflows and the demands of live broadcast, enough to lead, assess and guide engineers in the field.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional service delivery teams.
  • Proactive in troubleshooting, solving problems and preventing issues.
  • Adaptable and flexible in a demanding, fast-moving environment.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to represent the department globally.
  • Able to set priorities and work independently under pressure and against tight deadlines.
  • Experience managing budgets and expenses.
  • Proven hands-on skill with broadcast field equipment and the ability to work independently as a field engineer when needed.

Conditions
