Description

Company Description

We’re Checkout.com . You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.

We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.

Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.

If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.

With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.

We are seeking a talented and driven Solutions Engineer to join our Revenue organization. Reporting directly to our head of Solutions Engineering for North America, this is a highly visible, client-facing role where you will act as the primary technical expert for our enterprise merchants. This role offers a dynamic blend of pre-sales and implementation experiences, allowing you to guide our largest clients from their initial technical evaluation all the way through to a successful launch.

The role can based out of one of our three offices: NYC, Atlanta, and San Francisco, 3-days in office hybrid. Unfortunately we do not offer visa support or relocation at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Immerse yourself in the payments industry and build a comprehensive understanding of the Checkout.com platform, including our core solutions, products, and services.
  • Team up with Sales Representatives to engage directly with enterprise merchant prospects in a pre-sales context.
  • Investigate and understand enterprise prospects’ pain points, business needs, and functional requirements to propose tailored, high-impact solutions.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations to prospects, leveraging sales decks, user interfaces, API walk-throughs, reports, and integration examples.
  • Take primary responsibility for the end-to-end technical lifecycle, encompassing pre-sales presentations, solution design, technical implementation, and go-live support.
  • Serve as the internal voice of the merchant, collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Financial Partnerships, and Finance teams to solve complex technical challenges and influence the Checkout.com product roadmap.
  • Operate with an AI-forward mindset, actively utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall output quality.
  • Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of proven experience in the payments industry/expertise is required.
  • Strong technical skills, as evidenced by your educational background or professional work experience.
  • 2+ years of direct role-related experience in fields such as Sales Engineering, Implementation Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Account Management, or Solutions Architecture or similar client-facing technical role (pre or post sale).
  • Exceptional client-facing communication skills with a proven track record of managing external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of API-based integrations, specifically with REST/JSON APIs, and proficiency with related development and testing tools like Postman.
  • A natural problem-solver with strong analytical and debugging skills. You should be capable of reproducing, isolating, and clearly explaining technical issues using logs, API responses, and other diagnostic tools.
  • The ability to distill complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly and effectively to a non-technical business audience.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while effectively managing shifting priorities.

Requirements

  • Industry-specific and role-specific experience at a Payment Service Provider (PSP) similar to Checkout.com .
  • Exceptional technical skills, demonstrated through a formal engineering degree or highly technical professional work experience.
  • Hands-on experience in specialist product domains such as Platforms (Independent Software Vendors, Payment Facilitators, or Marketplaces), Card Issuing, or In-Person Payments (IPP).
