Summer 2027 Engineering Internship, Software/GNC

Description

The company was founded in 2023 and builds autonomous defense platforms, with scalable, decentralized systems meant to strengthen the United States and its allies.

It has about 350 employees and works at startup speed.

This is a paid, in-person 12-week engineering internship in software, starting in summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Depending on your background and placement, you may work on guidance, navigation and control for unmanned platforms, including guidance logic, state estimation, trajectory planning, feedback control and autonomy.
• Build real-time flight and autonomy software, including flight control, autonomy stacks and algorithms for next-generation vehicles.
• Write low-level firmware, device drivers and real-time code for embedded hardware.
• Create high-fidelity simulations, digital twins and hardware-in-the-loop setups for developing and validating autonomous systems.
• Process camera, IMU, GPS, radar and other sensor data to support reliable navigation and situational awareness.
• Run software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, automated and flight tests, and analyze system performance under demanding conditions.
• Integrate software with flight computers, embedded hardware, sensors, actuators and autonomous platforms.
• Build developer tools, simulation infrastructure, data pipelines, telemetry and CI/CD systems that help the engineering team move faster.

Requirements

• You are enrolled in a BS, MS or PhD program in software engineering or a related engineering field.
• You are curious and willing to take ownership of problems from start to finish.
• You have a real interest in defense technology, national security or the future of autonomous systems.
• You can complete the 12-week in-person internship at one of the company's offices in summer 2027.
• You are available to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
• To comply with U.S. Government export regulations, you must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or an asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Conditions

Pay is $30 - $55 USD.

The advertised range is an estimate for base salary only. Actual offers depend on factors such as experience, education and training, critical skills and business needs, among others.

Most offers include highly competitive equity grants, which the company counts as part of total compensation.

The role may involve access to information controlled under U.S. export laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

An offer may depend on being authorized to receive controlled software or technology under these laws, without sponsorship for an export license.
