Staff Software Engineer (Linux Kernel)

Description

The company behind the PlayStation brand is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (Linux Kernel) in Aliso Viejo, CA, to build new Linux kernel drivers and features for servers and embedded hardware.

Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC is a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation. Its hardware and network services reach more than 100 million people, and it also owns well-known entertainment intellectual property (IP).

Responsibilities

• Develop new Linux kernel drivers and features for servers and embedded hardware.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
• Two (2) years of experience leading platform-enabling work for processors that run Linux Kernel.
• Experience upstreaming code contributions into Linux kernel systems.
• Experience programming Client Integrated GPUs, Discrete GPUs, and Datacenter GPUs in C/C++ and Rust, with Python and Git.
• Experience with low-level Linux kernel systems and with developing device drivers and software for servers and embedded systems.
• Experience developing hardware and software architectures for AI and machine learning systems.
• Skill in analyzing technical problems, debugging, and troubleshooting computer systems.
• Skill in advanced debugging, including tracing with performance tools such as EBPF.
• Experience connecting high-speed components using PCI Express standards and protocol analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Working knowledge of C, C++, and Linux Kernel for day-to-day duties.

Conditions

Base pay is set using competitive market benchmarks and the geographic location. It may vary under the hybrid working policy, and individual pay depends on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range is $242,349.00 to $297,400.00 per year.
