Staff Software Engineer

Description

The company is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead work on large, complex software projects and to shape early designs for small and medium-sized projects alongside product, project, business and user experience partners.

The role is based in Bellevue, Washington.

Responsibilities

• Turn project requirements into technical solutions, compare alternatives and choose the best one by weighing return on investment and business value.
• Gather the information you need, write and build code, and run unit tests.
• Keep team members and stakeholders updated on status and problems.
• Work with the project team and other functions to spot opportunities, fix bugs and open issues, and deliver on schedule with clean handoffs.
• Investigate business and production incidents by collecting data, finding root causes to prevent repeats, bringing in support teams, building and running action plans, and deciding next steps from the results.
• Record your work in online documentation.
• Share your current expertise and best practices through advice and guidance, and build agreement on viewpoints and reasoning.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders, identify business needs, put the right processes in place, track results, act on improvements, and adjust to shifting priorities and organizational change.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering (any discipline), computer science or a related field, plus 6 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Or a master's degree or equivalent in engineering (any discipline), computer science or a related field, plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Hands-on backend development with Java, Spring Boot and Hibernate.
• Deploying and managing applications on Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Working knowledge of Cosmos DB, Informix DB and database design.
• Git and Maven for version control and builds.
• Working with architects on high-level and low-level designs for scalable, distributed software.
• Using Kafka and ActiveMQ to keep throughput high and messaging reliable.
• Microservices, cloud-native development and scalable system design for fault-tolerant, high-performance platforms.
• Supply chain and transportation systems, particularly middle-mile operations.
• Building internal tools, frameworks and automation that raise team productivity and development efficiency.
• Analyzing complex logistics workflows to find optimization opportunities.
• Making data-driven decisions using metrics and performance analysis.
• Any amount of experience with the skills above is accepted.

Conditions

Based at 10900 NE 4th Street, 8th Floor, Bellevue, WA 98004.

Salary range is $206,086 to $264,000 per year.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
