Staff Software Developer, iOS - Connected TV

Description

You will be a senior hands-on technical leader on the mobile team, working as a self-directed individual contributor who takes on the hardest technical problems with little oversight.

You will set technical direction for the team and work with the Principal Engineers and Architects to shape technology strategy and how it gets built.

The role sits on the tvOS team for a Connected TV product. You will guide mobile strategy, architecture, best practices, tools and the tech stack across iOS and tvOS, covering mobile backend APIs, mobile CI/CD and test automation. You will oversee technical delivery and release of the apps to end consumers and work with Product, Design and Delivery leaders on product initiatives and day-to-day execution.

The company is a global media and entertainment business with three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer and TV Media. Its portfolio spans well-known entertainment and news brands.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build mobile apps that are intuitive, simple, well designed and that people want to use.
• Build and support software tools and procedures that extend and improve the core production pipeline.
• Work with Product, Design, Delivery, Editorial and Engineering to build consumer digital experiences and apps.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis and debug.
• Develop and maintain the production systems behind the company's digital ecosystem.
• Mentor junior developers.
• Make sure technical work follows industry best practices, company policies and guidelines, and matches the digital strategy and standards for architecture, security, governance, coding, monitoring, logging, unit testing and service enablement.

Requirements

• A BS or MS in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Advanced, proven skill in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, application design, solution development, usability design and delivering projects for major business units or the whole enterprise.
• At least 10 years of professional development experience.
• Solid grasp of programming fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
• You can build new, innovative applications and also maintain existing code.
• Full mobile stack experience: native client and SDK work, build and CI/CD, and APIs, using tools such as Swift and SwiftUI.
• Expert knowledge of development methods and architecture, including designing high-performing, scalable, secure and cost-efficient cloud solutions on AWS.
• Hands-on mobile DevOps CI/CD experience, including automating code signing and automated tests.
• General familiarity with database technologies such as SQL/RDBMS, NoSQL and GraphDB.
• You communicate clearly in writing and verbally with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience designing flexible architecture that can adapt to changing business needs.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, OpenStack and OpenShift.
• Preferred: AWS Professional Certification, though not required.
• Preferred: familiarity with Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, Swift Package Manager/CocoaPods, Terraform and Appium.

Conditions

Hiring salary range: $138,000.00 - $220,800.00 per year.

Pay is disclosed where the law requires it. Actual pay depends on factors such as location, external market data, internal equity, skills, experience, training, education and performance.
