Description

The company makes video games across many genres, including NBA 2K, BioShock, Borderlands, Civilization, XCOM, WWE 2K, TopSpin and PGA TOUR 2K.

Nine studios build the portfolio: Visual Concepts, Firaxis Games, Hangar 13, Cat Daddy Games, 31st Union, Cloud Chamber, Gearbox, HB Studios and 2K SportsLab. They ship on multiple platforms.

The Technology QA team is hiring a Staff Software Quality Engineer to act as principal technical architect for the QA AI SDLC. You will work with engineering teams and outside partners on how game technology is built and tested.

Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, 401k and ESPP benefits.

The company wants people who are customer-focused, driven and bring fresh perspectives. Teams are meant to feel empowered, supported and motivated. The company is an equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap, system design and integration of the QA AI SDLC into the company's wider enterprise AI SDLC.
  • Co-design, build and refine the agentic QA platform (Kiro Crew, Agent Core) with Amazon FDEs and Technology leadership so it meets exact operating specifications.
  • Set technical governance, evaluation benchmarks and human-in-the-loop review processes for AI agent autonomy and tool reliability.
  • Assess current internal QA tools and engine integrations, and design new AI-driven solutions that remove the most difficult technical bottlenecks.
  • Solve the hardest architecture edge cases, memory problems and distributed systems issues, writing expert-level code in C++, Go, JavaScript and Java.
  • Drive the evolution of Playwright automation, Datadog observability integrations and SDK validation for Unreal Engine and Unity.
  • Act as the main technical sounding board for engineering directors, principal developers and external consultants.
  • Raise technical standards across the organization through architecture reviews, code reviews and mentoring of SQE I, II and III engineers.

Requirements

  • A genuine love of games and a proven record of technical leadership in software architecture, QA engineering or developer platform tooling.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is preferred, or equivalent experience, plus 7+ years in software engineering, QA architecture or technical leadership.
  • Expert skill designing complex testing systems, AI SDLC workflows and agentic orchestration platforms such as Kiro Crew, Agent Core and Cursor.
  • Deep programming ability in C++, Go, JavaScript or Java, with hands-on work in game engine architecture (Unreal Engine, Unity) and SDK design.
  • A record of leading technical work with Amazon FDEs, principal architects or enterprise consulting teams.
  • Advanced experience with Datadog, Playwright, CI/CD orchestration and modern AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Nice to have: experience as a former manager or tech lead who deliberately moved to an Individual Contributor path to maximize technical impact.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Candidates must already be legally authorized to work in the United States, now and in the future, without employer sponsorship.
