Description

The company is a sleep wellness business in Menlo Park, California, founded in 2014 by Ann Crady Weiss and Dave Weiss. It began by helping parents deal with newborn sleep and now serves more than 5 million people.

Its products use habit-formation science to help people wind down, disconnect, and rest. There are no sleep scores or wearables. The lineup includes a contactless sleep tracker that gives personalized routines, a device for guided wind-down audio and ambient light, a baby sleep aid with soothing sounds and lights, and a portable unit with ten calming sounds.

You will join the mobile team, which works closely with Product and is a small company where AI-assisted development is central to daily work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering development for the iOS and Android apps that run on devices in people's homes.
  • Lead feature delivery, set technical direction for mobile, and mentor other engineers.
  • Work with Product to understand the business goals behind your work and turn them into engineering solutions that add customer value.
  • In your first 90 days, learn the existing codebase, find quick technical improvements, ship code to production, and earn trust with the engineering team.
  • In your first six months, lead feature work and handle production issues. Debug problems that span mobile, firmware, and backend systems.
  • Learn how the whole mobile platform fits together, and help your team's projects on features, reliability, and daily app engagement.
  • Frame problems with stakeholders, propose architecture, and present proposals at Mobile Strategy and Engineering Forum meetings.
  • Give feedback and support to other engineers. Work with Product, Design, and QA to scope, plan, and ship features quickly.
  • Promote AI-assisted development in your team by setting up conditions where others adopt it faster and go deeper.
  • In your first year, help set the mobile roadmap and drive business strategy through mobile work, with decisions that serve every product area and daily users.
  • Evaluate and put into practice the company's AI strategy, and define what good work looks like so new engineers have a clear standard to join.

Requirements

  • Six or more years building mobile apps, in Swift and SwiftUI or in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
  • Care about code quality, reliability, and building good experiences for real users.
  • Lead by example by writing production code, unblocking others, and guiding architecture and pragmatic decisions.
  • Have mentored engineers and built trust and environments where people do strong work.
  • Communicate clearly and lead with empathy in cross-functional work with Product, Design, and other engineering leaders.
  • Bring experience with modern mobile tooling, CI/CD, testing, and cloud services, and stay open to new tools and approaches.
  • Use AI fluently every day and be interested in how it can make builders more effective and serve customers better.
  • Be self-motivated, show ownership and self-direction, and learn fast in an environment that moves quickly.
  • Understand the business aims behind the work and push engineering solutions that deliver customer value.

Conditions

Open to candidates across the U.S. and Canada, but you must be available during PST and PDT hours, as the company is based in California.
