Description

The marketing engineering group builds the websites and systems behind the company's digital experiences, working with designers, marketers, product managers, and infrastructure teams on scalable applications, backend services, and content platforms.

The company makes customer and employee experience software that is meant to be simple to use and quick to deliver results, and it has people in locations around the world.

You will set technical direction across the marketing engineering teams while staying hands-on in implementation. You will find gaps in the systems, build substantial proofs of concept, and lead architecture changes that improve how the platforms are delivered and run. With engineering leadership, you will help choose which problems to tackle and then own the solutions.

You will bring deep engineering skill and sharp critical thinking. You will be curious about how things work, challenge assumptions, and trace problems through the code and its dependencies. You will use AI heavily to investigate and build, and to help with daily work. You stay accountable for understanding what it produces and for deciding when to redirect it.

Colleagues should find you easy to approach with a question or a different opinion. Explain your reasoning clearly, listen closely, and change your mind when the evidence supports it. Share work early, keep your commitments, and remove obstacles that keep coming up so other engineers can take on harder work.

Responsibilities

  • Define how the web applications, backend services, CMS platforms, and cloud infrastructure should evolve together. Record the reasoning behind decisions and give teams a workable route from today's architecture to the next one.
  • Independently explore ambitious ideas by building working prototypes that show whether an approach holds up. Report what you learned, recommend which ideas to pursue, and lead the work that turns a promising prototype into a production system the team can maintain.
  • Spot recurring bottlenecks and gaps across the platforms. Find root causes, compare options, and make changes that improve performance, reliability, or delivery speed. Balance longer-term fixes against current commitments.
  • Build reusable modules, internal tools, and reference implementations that solve problems for several teams. Help engineers adopt them and resolve the issues they run into.
  • Work with engineering and cross-functional partners across time zones. Involve people early, explain complex work in plain terms, and write enough context that others can contribute asynchronously. Raise risks quickly and keep agreed follow-ups moving.
  • Support lead engineers and technical leads through architecture decisions and their team's work. Teach through pairing, design reviews, and hands-on training. Invite questions and help engineers build their own technical judgment.
  • Use code and design reviews to raise maintainability, testing, and operational reliability across teams. Work with the relevant partners to turn accessibility, security, and privacy requirements into concrete implementation and testing practices.
  • Create and refine AI workflows for investigation, prototyping, and production work. Decide what agents need to know, what they are allowed to access, and how their output gets checked. Show engineers how to direct agents and review what they return, and update these practices as the team uses them.
  • Take architectural risks and opportunities to engineering and business leaders. Lay out the costs, dependencies, and expected benefits of proposed work so leaders can decide well. Help teams schedule new work alongside what they already owe.

Requirements

  • You have designed and evolved systems that several teams depend on. You understand service boundaries, distributed systems, data flow, caching, and how systems fail. You can investigate unfamiliar systems and make sound calls when information is incomplete.
  • You know JavaScript and TypeScript deeply and have substantial experience with React and Next.js, including rendering, state management, asynchronous behavior, and performance trade-offs.
  • You have built secure APIs and integrated services in Node.js, and you have handled asynchronous processing. You can trace a problem across the frontend and the backend.
  • You write semantic markup and understand the DOM, Web APIs, modular CSS, and responsive layouts. You have diagnosed browser behavior, rendering problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • You understand headless CMS architecture, content modeling, and integrations with CMS or DAM systems. You have worked with platforms such as Contentful, Contentstack, or WordPress and understand the trade-offs in how content is stored and delivered.
  • You have deep experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and observability. You can compare deployment approaches and build tooling that helps both development and production support.
  • You know accessible UI patterns well, including keyboard navigation, focus management, and testing with assistive technology. You have defined testing strategies and diagnosed performance and reliability issues in production.
  • You have extensive hands-on work with coding agents, LLM APIs, and automated engineering workflows. You understand how context, tools, and model limits affect results. You know when to give an agent room, when to step in, and how to verify its work through tests and review. You select models and manage context to balance quality, speed, and cost.
  • You can present engineering topics to senior leaders, including C-suite executives. You explain recommendations in terms of business impact, cost, and timelines, adjust detail to the audience, answer questions directly, and are open about trade-offs and uncertainty. You write useful documentation and give and receive constructive feedback.
