Staff Embedded Software Engineer

Description

The company builds mission systems for national defense, and this role sits in its Software Technologies group within Mission Systems, based in Baltimore, MD.

The team uses Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices to deliver defense products and capabilities for the warfighter, and values adaptability, continuous learning, shared responsibility and automation.

You will work on software for mission systems across all phases of the development lifecycle, mainly in C/C++.

The position is contingent on anticipated contract award and funding.

Relocation assistance may be available. Travel is 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, develop and modify existing software, using modern development techniques.
• Identify and assess new technologies before they are adopted.
• Spot risks, propose mitigations, track defects, develop fixes and report status.
• Design, build and run unit tests, write build verification test plans, and track and report test results.
• Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to test and verify software on simulators and production hardware in the System Integration Laboratories.
• Take part in technical peer, design, architecture and system reviews with systems engineering to confirm system and software requirements are met end to end.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related STEM field with 12 years of related experience, or a MS degree with 10 years of experience.
• US citizenship.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance, which is required to start and must be maintained for continued employment.
• Experience with C/C++.
• Experience with real-time embedded software.
• Experience across the full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging and maintenance.
• Preferred: experience in algorithmic application development and optimization.
• Preferred: experience with VxWorks and/or Linux operating systems.
• Preferred: experience with Visual Studio.
• Preferred: experience with Matlab.
• Preferred: experience with Coverity, SonarQube and/or KlocWork tools.
• Preferred: experience in Open Architecture Solutions.
• Preferred: experience with the Atlassian tool set, Kubernetes, Model Based Engineering and DevSecOps best practices.
• Preferred: experience in Electronic Warfare, Built in Test or Calibrations.

Conditions

Primary base salary range is $169,000.00 to $253,600.00. Final offers depend on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Secret clearance is required to start.

Travel is 10% of the time.
