Description

The company makes consumer health products: a smart ring and companion app that track readiness, activity and sleep quality for millions of people worldwide.

The company is growing quickly and wants its staff to have what they need to do strong work, both at the office and away from it.

Engineering speed sets how fast health features, algorithms and updates reach millions of members, and the company is building agentic automation into its engineering process.

As Staff AI Engineer on the Developer Productivity team, you will design and own the systems that make agentic engineering the reliable default for hundreds of engineers shipping mobile, backend and web code.

The work covers the full software lifecycle, not only code generation, including specs, tests, automated review, CI repair and post-deploy signals. Faster feedback and less delivery friction mean quicker iteration and better releases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction of the agentic pipeline, covering orchestration, context management, tool calling and cloud sandboxing, and keep it running reliably.
  • Extend agent workflows beyond first-draft code into spec checks, test generation, automated code review, CI failure triage and release verification.
  • Prototype new agent workflows on real engineering problems, then harden the proven ones into production-grade platform tooling.
  • Build and run evaluation harnesses, LLM-as-a-judge grading, tracing and dashboards that track pipeline health, defect reduction and time to signal.
  • Set sandboxing, permissions and human checkpoints matched to each risk level, with privacy built in from the start in sensitive areas.
  • Work with cross-functional squads and AI DRIs to remove workflow friction, clear tooling blockers and create reusable paths, skills and templates that teams adopt willingly.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of building and running developer tools, internal platforms or production AI systems at scale.
  • Hands-on experience designing, shipping and measuring agentic coding workflows, autonomous execution loops or background developer automation.
  • Ability to view specification, review, build, testing, CI/CD and deployment as one connected system.
  • Experience setting architecture direction, writing clear technical designs and building agreement across teams without formal authority.
  • Solid grounding in distributed systems, concurrency, testing and debugging, plus fluency in at least one backend or mobile stack such as Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift or Go.
  • A disciplined habit of checking AI-generated output, and a privacy-first approach to agent permissions and sensitive data.
  • Experience building custom evaluation harnesses or benchmarks for coding agents.
  • Direct work with cloud sandboxed execution, ephemeral environments or VM fleet orchestration.
  • Familiarity with developer experience measurement frameworks such as DORA or SPACE.
  • Background on mobile platforms or in privacy-sensitive or regulated hardware products.

Conditions

Candidates residing in Alaska (AK), Delaware (DE), Iowa (IA), Mississippi (MS), Nebraska (NE), South Dakota (SD), West Virginia (WV) or Wisconsin (WI) are not being considered.

The company is an equal opportunity employer, considers applicants regardless of protected characteristics under federal, state or local law, and does not tolerate discrimination or harassment.

Benefits

  • The company cares about employee well-being, and every employee gets a smart ring of their own.
  • Competitive salary and equity packages.
  • Health, dental and vision insurance, plus mental health resources.
  • A smart ring for yourself and employee discounts for friends and family.
  • 20 days of paid time off, 13 paid holidays and 8 days of flexible wellness time off.
  • Paid sick leave and parental leave.
  • Pay follows a market-based approach that may vary by location. US locations are grouped into tiers using a cost of labor index. Most offers land nearer the bottom of the range, while final pay depends on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity and market conditions. Ranges may change.
  • Region 1: $233,000 to $267,950.
  • Region 2: $212,000 to $243,800.
  • Region 3: $199,000 to $228,850.
  • A recruiter can confirm your region based on your US location.
