Sr. Software Engineer V - (E5)

Responsibilities

• Build, test and maintain desktop apps in C++, C and WPF.
• Write multithreaded and concurrent code that keeps systems fast and responsive.
• Write software that talks to hardware, instruments, motion control and industrial automation gear.
• Work with systems, electrical, mechanical and process engineers to pin down software requirements and architectures.
• Tune performance, memory use and reliability for mission-critical settings.
• Diagnose and fix difficult software, hardware and integration problems.
• Review colleagues' code and encourage good development practices.
• Write technical documentation, design specifications and test procedures.
• Help shape architecture choices and the technology roadmap.
• Prototype and debug software for semiconductor equipment components, and talk with internal customers about project needs.
• Work on machine learning and AI-based software to solve customers' high-value problems.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or a related technical field.
• 10-15 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C++ skills, with modern C++ preferred.
• Strong C and.NET development skills.
• Extensive hands-on experience building desktop applications with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).
• Proven skill in multithreaded programming, synchronization and concurrent application design.
• Experience with asynchronous patterns and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and software architecture patterns.
• Hands-on use of source control such as Git, Azure DevOps or similar.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Preferred: experience in semiconductor equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, inspection, metrology, lithography, test or automation.
• Preferred: experience integrating software with hardware such as cameras, sensors, motion control systems or instruments.
• Preferred: familiarity with real-time data acquisition and processing.
• Preferred: experience with high-performance computing and large data sets.
• Preferred: knowledge of MVVM design patterns in WPF.
• Preferred: experience with SQL databases and data-driven applications.
• Preferred: familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred: exposure to SEMI standards and semiconductor manufacturing workflows.
• Preferred: background in advanced packaging.
• Desired: self-motivated, able to work independently, analytical and detail-oriented.
• Desired: comfortable in a quick-moving engineering environment.
• Desired: a drive to build high-quality, maintainable software.
• Desired: comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Conditions

Salary range: $180,000.00 - $247,500.00.

Location: Billerica, MA.

Full-time, regular employee position.

Travel: not specified. Not eligible for relocation.

Salary depends on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity with current team members.

For sales roles, the posted range is Target Total Cash, meaning base salary plus target bonus at 100% goal achievement.
