This is a senior software engineer role in which you take full technical ownership and lead several complex technical designs.
You help develop and change sub-modules and answer for how they perform.
You work at train level, coordinating with other sectors in a complicated setting where negotiation can be needed.
You grasp how other domains feed into the product, work at module level, and oversee how functions connect.
You look at the whole flow from end to end, weighing effects on research, customers and marketing.
You troubleshoot at function level, handle many technical unknowns inside sub-modules, and devise creative fixes.
You can own customer problems raised by end customers or Operations sectors and propose solutions for specific issues.
You represent the engineering discipline across the Product Development Cycle.
You have mastered your field and the ways of working in your function, and your work is visible to other departments and disciplines.
Your deep expertise in your module or discipline lets you find solutions others miss, and you look ahead and raise risks early.
As Technical Lead Designer, you direct the work of 6 to 10 engineers.
You design, build, test and integrate software for the company's machines and applications, including analytics, data, control and algorithm applications that help customers reach optimal performance in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
You act as the technical authority for one or more software modules or subsystems and guide their architecture, implementation, integration, deployment, maintenance and technical roadmap.
You coach engineers and review their code and designs, giving architectural guidance.
You keep quality, maintainability and long-term technical strategy aligned with product and platform architecture.
You develop and deliver part of a research program's plan, with guidance from senior colleagues.
You assess emerging software technologies, frameworks, tools and engineering practices that matter to the company's products and platforms.
You plan and coordinate the gathering and analysis of product or project requirements, keep them documented and managed through the project, and coordinate verification of the final deliverable, usually at project level.
You define software architecture requirements, quality attributes, interface contracts and non-functional requirements such as performance, maintainability, reliability and extensibility.
You run technological and organizational feasibility studies, documenting cost-benefit analyses for changes to processes, products or unit structure.
You contribute to product roadmaps and SPS/SDS, and you identify feasibility questions and improvements in your domain.
You judge the feasibility of architectures, frameworks, technology choices, deployment models and implementation approaches.
You design engineering solutions and validation steps that deliver a design brief in terms of functionality, performance and cost, meeting organizational or regulatory standards.
You develop software concepts and architectural approaches that balance functionality, maintainability, scalability, performance and cost.
You develop the technical concept, including material choices, and specify the sub-module with team input.
You design the architecture, make technical choices at every phase, solve technical problems, invent new approaches where needed, and drive module development.
You write the high-level design of the sub-module, meeting the requirements and covering architecture and interfaces, and record it in the relevant SEG documents.
You define the software architecture and subsystem breakdown, set technology choices and architectural direction, and define interfaces, platform boundaries and integration approaches.
You lead architecture reviews and technical decisions.
You design engineering solutions and validation steps for a design brief covering functionality, performance, aesthetics and cost, meeting organizational or regulatory standards, and document the detailed design.
You write detailed software designs and technical specifications, and design reusable components, frameworks, services and APIs.
You make sure designs follow architectural standards and engineering best practices, and you review designs by other engineers.
You integrate subsystems into the system, manage configuration, and support projects.
You lead integration across modules, services, UI components and hardware interfaces, manage dependencies and package versions, and support build, deployment, installation and upgrades.
You resolve architecture, compatibility and integration issues.
You verify the SDS and design specifications from team members, and take part in the TPS, a-test, subsystem TAR and b-test processes.
You create new test approaches as requirements change, focusing on a defined range of products, operations or both.
You set the software quality strategy, drive test automation, and lead design and code reviews to improve quality and maintainability.
You run root-cause analysis on complex defects, build debugging and diagnostic approaches for complex systems, and support performance analysis and tuning.
You follow the company's EHS policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, and you spot and reduce safety risks for yourself and others.
You teach the team safe working methods, identify risky behaviour, act on it, and escalate serious issues as needed.
You build high-level work breakdowns, support planning, estimate effort, and manage assigned projects by delegating tasks and keeping delivery on time and to quality within project management guidelines.
You lead technical planning and architecture roadmaps, identify technical risks with mitigations, coordinate dependencies across teams and disciplines, and guide complex development work.
You document complex design choices and specifications at every phase, keep product documentation current, and record the assumptions and restrictions behind them.
You document architecture, APIs, design decisions and technical trade-offs, and present proposals and design reviews to technical and non-technical audiences.
You keep technical decisions and architectural reasoning traceable and up to date.
You keep your knowledge current in your area and in technology areas that affect the company, and you help build and maintain its technology base.
You share knowledge, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
You keep expert knowledge of C,.NET, WPF, XAML, MVVM, software architecture and engineering best practices, act as a recognized subject matter expert in design and architecture, and coach engineers on debugging, testing, code quality and design patterns.
You help shape engineering standards, technical strategy and continuous improvement across teams.
