Description

The role supports the Regional Applications team's Huntsville development effort and is based in Huntsville, AL.

C2BMC is a core part of the missile defense system. It lets the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense and combatant commanders at strategic, regional and operational levels plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and direct networked sensors and weapons toward global and regional goals.

The system covers all ranges and flight phases, combining autonomous sensors and weapons into a better optimized response. It is also essential for ground and flight tests that prove current and future missile defense capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing user support for complex software products.
  • Debug, configure and maintain existing codebases.
  • Build automated tools that raise developer productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Accept unforeseen assignments when they arise.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics or a related field from an accredited university plus 8 years of experience, or a master's degree in a related field plus 6 years of relevant work, or 12 years of relevant work experience in place of a degree.
  • Be proficient in Python and at least one other object-oriented language such as Java, C or C++.
  • Hold a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret clearance at the time you apply.
  • List your current security clearance and any IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
  • Bring a proven record of building and supporting high-performance applications.
  • Have experience with Agile methodologies, software integration, formal testing and automated testing.
  • Have strong software engineering experience on DoD programs and in developing command and control (C2) system applications.
  • Apply software development best practices effectively in a multi-team environment.
  • Solve problems well, with a proven record of root-cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Mentor and motivate junior engineers, building a collaborative environment that supports continuous learning and shared success.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and orally, and work effectively in a fast-paced team.
  • Present complex concepts to non-software audiences, including senior program leadership, government representatives and military leaders.
  • Preferred: understanding of standard systems engineering artifacts such as use cases and SysML diagrams.
  • Preferred: strong knowledge of Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence to support Agile software development teams.
