This senior technical leadership role is hands-on and covers designing, building, modernizing and delivering digital solutions for the Client Onboarding & Enrollments portfolio.

You will work with product, architecture, engineering, QA, SRE and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, resilient, high-performing products.

You will set engineering standards, mentor engineers, resolve difficult technical problems and make sure solutions fit enterprise architecture, security, risk and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, rollout and modernization of complex enterprise digital systems.
• Stay hands-on with Java/JEE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, event-driven designs and modern web applications.
• Set technical direction across several applications, components and engineering teams.
• Run architecture and design reviews that check scalability, security, performance, resilience and maintainability.
• Promote clean code, reusable patterns, Test-Driven Development (TDD) and spec-driven, contract-first development.
• Carry out code reviews, technical deep dives, proofs of concept and fixes for hard engineering problems.
• Work with architects and senior engineers to define and refine engineering standards and reference patterns.
• Design cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure and lead technical decisions across its compute, networking, storage, integration, security and cloud database services.
• Move legacy applications and services toward API-first, event-driven, cloud-native architectures.
• Build for availability, observability, scalability, performance, resilience and operational supportability.
• Guide data architecture, integration patterns and the use of Oracle/SQL, Elasticsearch, MQ/Solace and related enterprise technologies.
• Champion Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing and infrastructure automation.
• Drive TDD and broad automation across unit, integration, regression and system testing.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and release practices for more reliable deployments, higher quality and faster delivery.
• Work with DevOps and SRE teams on monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, incident response and production readiness.
• Find recurring operational issues and drive engineering fixes that reduce technical debt and improve stability.
• Promote responsible use of AI-assisted tools to raise developer productivity and quality.
• Identify where AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, code generation, testing and documentation can improve workflows.
• Set practices that pair AI-assisted development with code review, testing, security and governance controls.
• Mentor engineers in design, coding, testing, cloud, DevOps and production support.
• Guide lead and senior engineers, encouraging ownership and accountability.
• Build a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, innovation and improvement.
• Lead through influence to align teams on technology decisions, standards and strategic priorities.
• Encourage reusable engineering capabilities and patterns that speed up delivery across the portfolio.
• Monitor application and platform health and lead resolution of complex stability, performance, scalability and resilience issues.
• Identify, assess and reduce technology, operational, security and engineering risks.
• Build appropriate controls into design, development, deployment and operations.
• Address vulnerabilities, technical debt and production risks to keep applications reliable and resilient.
• Make sure solutions meet architecture standards, security policies, technology controls, regulatory expectations and governance requirements.
• Work closely with product, business, architecture, QA, SRE, security, infrastructure and other technology teams.
• Turn business requirements and strategic priorities into scalable technical solutions and engineering roadmaps.
• Explain complex technology decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Shape technology direction and engineering priorities with expertise and data-driven recommendations.
• Collaborate with teams across North America, EMEA and India.
• Flag dependencies, constraints, technology risks and opportunities, and recommend practical solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant hands-on development and technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in Java/JEE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices and enterprise application development.
• Strong experience designing and building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong experience with Oracle, SQL, Elasticsearch, MQ/Solace and enterprise integration technologies.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, event-driven architecture, data modeling and application performance optimization.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing and modern software delivery practices.
• Practical experience with TDD and spec-driven, contract-first development.
• Experience with Linux, networking, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, observability and application security.
• Understanding of application and cloud architecture, security, scalability, availability and resilience principles.
• Proven ability to provide hands-on technical leadership across complex engineering initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise engineering practice across teams.
• Ability to lead and influence technology decisions without direct reporting authority.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, design and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining architecture and engineering decisions to technical and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working at pace in complex, globally distributed enterprise environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including leading complex application development initiatives.
• Experience working in Agile product and engineering organizations.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade systems in regulated environments.
• Preferred: experience with digital products, workflow automation, transaction processing, client onboarding or financial services platforms.
• Preferred: Microsoft Azure certification, particularly architecture or development certifications.
• Preferred: experience with AI-assisted software development and engineering productivity tools.
• Preferred: experience with large-scale application modernization and cloud migration.
• Preferred: experience designing highly available distributed and event-driven systems.
• Preferred: experience establishing reusable engineering patterns, frameworks or platform capabilities across multiple teams.
• Preferred: experience operating mission-critical applications in highly regulated enterprise environments.

Conditions

Base salary range of $114,500 - 194,700 USD, a good-faith estimate of base pay.
