Sr. Full-Stack Developer (Python & React/Angular)

Description

The company runs a cloud-native lending platform for securities-based lending, used by wealth managers, private banks and financial institutions worldwide.

The role sits on the Securities-Based Lending engineering team in Dublin, working in an Agile setup on modern full-stack development with a focus on Python services and React or Angular front ends, delivered on AWS.

The team is looking for an engineer who likes hard technical problems, owns delivery, pushes engineering standards higher and works well with Product, QA, UX and Engineering colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack web applications for the lending platform, using Angular and/or React.
• Design and build scalable backend services in Python with FastAPI, following API-first design.
• Design, implement and evolve REST APIs and microservices, and connect them to React or Angular interfaces.
• Build secure, scalable and resilient cloud-native applications on AWS, using DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Take part in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
• Write clean, maintainable code with good test coverage.
• Review colleagues' code, help set engineering standards and keep improving quality, performance and practices.
• Build and maintain automated tests for backend services, REST APIs and user interfaces, and help strengthen CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate production issues and carry out root cause analysis.
• Design, build and run CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Work with Product Managers, QA Engineers, Scrum Masters and UX partners, joining sprint planning, estimation, refinement and retrospectives, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience building RESTful APIs and microservices in Python with FastAPI.
• Experience building front ends in Angular or React, with strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or another enterprise relational database.
• Experience using Git.
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS, including ECS, Lambda, EC2, S3, IAM and CloudWatch.
• Experience writing and maintaining automated unit, integration and API tests in CI/CD environments.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Nice to have: Java, Spring Boot, Flask, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Nomad, Helm, Clojure, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, OpenAPI, OAuth2 / JWT, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and experience in financial services, securities-based lending or banking platforms.
• Core stack: Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, microservices, PostgreSQL, Angular, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Nomad, Git, GitHub, Maven, Gradle and CI/CD.
• Wider backend stack, nice to have: Java 17+ and Spring Boot.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role. Teams meet in person when needed to learn and collaborate.
