Sr. Engineering Manager, Core Products

You would lead a team of backend engineers who build highly scalable cloud services and AI-powered platform features.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a backend engineering team building scalable cloud services and AI-powered platform capabilities.
• Set the technical direction and see delivery through for distributed systems, platform APIs and AI-enabled services.
• Work closely with Product, Security, Infrastructure and Data Science to deliver intelligent platform experiences.
• Design architecture for large-scale microservices, event-driven systems and cloud-native applications.
• Help shape the AI roadmap, covering agentic workflows, LLM integrations, RAG architectures and AI infrastructure.
• Set engineering standards for reliability, observability, scalability, security and operational excellence.
• Coach engineering managers and senior engineers and encourage ownership and new ideas.
• Lead quarterly planning, staffing decisions, technical roadmaps and architecture reviews.
• Make sure highly available services run reliably across AWS, Azure and GCP.

Requirements

• 10+ years building distributed and scalable backend systems.
• 3+ years leading software engineering teams, including engineering leads and managers.
• Strong experience with Java, Go, Python or comparable backend languages.
• Deep experience with microservices, APIs, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Experience building high-scale distributed and event-driven systems with technologies such as Kafka.
• Working knowledge of modern AI systems, including LLMs, AI agents, RAG, model serving, prompt engineering and agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working with Product Management to define strategy and ship customer-facing features.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to shape technical direction across teams.
• Experience running production services with a focus on telemetry, monitoring and reliability.
• Bonus Points: experience leading AI platform, ML infrastructure or agentic systems teams.
• Bonus Points: hands-on knowledge of vector databases, inference optimization, model evaluation frameworks and AI observability platforms such as Langfuse.
• Bonus Points: security or cybersecurity domain experience.
• Bonus Points: experience building enterprise SaaS platforms at scale.
• Bonus Points: familiarity with Terraform, cloud automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.

Conditions

This is an on-site role, five days a week at the company's Sunnyvale, CA headquarters.
