Software Support and Development Engineer

Description

The Global Software Organisation builds warehouse execution software for highly automated distribution centres and warehouses. It lets customers run a range of automated processes and see their whole operation in real time.

You will sit in the UK Software Support Team and give second-level support, helping customers resolve issues that need a problem-solving approach. The UK team shares on-call duties and works with the global software teams on support and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide second-level support to new and long-standing customers.
• Log incoming service cases and document the solutions given.
• Work with functional departments on software projects and give useful feedback.
• Support international project commissioning and help customers after go-live.
• Provide ongoing service support to existing customers.
• Develop software for WCS, MFC and OFS systems, including PTL and PbV.
• Process change requests from existing customers.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills, with the patience and persistence to work through customers' problems.
• Experience with software architecture and Java development.
• Experience in a similar second-line IT or software support role.
• Confident working with Oracle databases.
• Willingness to share 24/7 on-call duties with the team.
• Ability to travel when needed.
• Knowledge of warehouse management or warehouse execution systems is an advantage.
