Description

The company builds robots and needs a navigation engineer to improve how they localize, plan, move and recover in the field.

The role suits someone who works independently in an international, open team with flat hierarchies and a start-up feel.

The team values results, wellbeing, personal growth, trust and acting as one team.

Responsibilities

  • Improve LiDAR-based localization and SLAM so robots estimate their pose reliably.
  • Build global and local planners that generate feasible trajectories and track them.
  • Create behavior-tree navigation logic covering replanning, recovery and safety handling.
  • Write real-time capable, multi-threaded C++ and ROS 2 code for robots in production.
  • Verify features with automated tests in simulation and with hands-on tests on hardware.
  • Trace field issues to their root cause across the whole navigation stack.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, robotics or a related field.
  • 3+ years developing navigation software for wheeled mobile robots in real-world or industrial settings.
  • Proficient in C++17 or newer with a solid grasp of object-oriented design.
  • Hands-on work with ROS 2, ideally Nav2 or a similar navigation framework, including TF, costmaps and behavior trees.
  • Proven experience in at least two of: localization and lifelong SLAM (scan matching, particle filters, pose graph optimization); path planning (graph search, lattice planners, trajectory optimization); motion control (MPC, trajectory tracking, sampling-based local planners); behavior and decision-making (behavior trees, state machines, recovery strategies).
  • Experience with Linux, Git-based collaboration, and building and deploying with Docker.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Conditions

Preferred: a strong grasp of mobile robot kinematics, dynamics, control theory and probabilistic state estimation.

Preferred: experience with differential-drive and omnidirectional robot platforms.

Preferred: experience building CI/CD pipelines for robotics software with automated testing and performance benchmarking.

Preferred: experience with profiling and tracing tools.

Hybrid working model.

Office is reachable by public transport, bike and car, with many catering options nearby.

Benefits

  • 30 vacation days per year.
  • Above-average pay plus a bonus scheme.
  • Annual personal development budget.
  • Corporate benefits and a company pension scheme.
  • Regular team events.
  • Varied, responsible tasks you handle on your own.
