Software/ Principal Software Engineer

Description

The company is hiring several Software Engineers and Principal Software Engineers for its Global C2 Solutions unit in Huntsville, Alabama.

You will design, build, integrate, test and maintain mission-critical command and control software used by warfighters and customers worldwide.

The work centres on the IBCS program, where you join Agile teams alongside systems and hardware engineers to produce secure, robust, scalable software for complex logic and math problems.

This suits engineers who like hands-on development, hard technical problems and close teamwork in a tightly integrated Agile setting.

Responsibilities

• Create, build, document, test and debug software that turns logical and mathematical methods into working applications for Global C2 missions.
• Join SAFe Scrum teams to build and upkeep software across several IBCS baselines.
• Deliver technical answers to hard, varied problems, keeping them creative, thorough, workable and in line with program goals.
• Build and change user interfaces with JavaFX and related technologies where needed.
• Upgrade and develop software in several languages and versions while keeping tactical software's operational behavior as stable as possible.
• Adapt readily: pick up new technologies and step outside your comfort zone as mission and program needs shift.
• Work at pace, with high expectations, varied assignments and collaboration across every level of the organization.
• Write and update documents in Markdown and other collaboration tools.
• Run unit and functional tests, code coverage and static analysis, and help make testing more effective and automated.

Requirements

• Strong object-oriented development experience in Java and C++.
• Experience building user interfaces with JavaFX.
• Experience scripting in Bash (including SSH and SCP), Perl and Python.
• Working proficiency in Linux-based development and runtime environments.
• Experience with Git and GitLab for configuration management and source control.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Software Engineer: a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM field and 0 years of experience.
• Principal Software Engineer: a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in a STEM field and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a STEM field and 0 years of experience.
• Preferred: experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including Cameo or similar tools.
• Preferred: experience using Jenkins or similar CI/CD pipelines to build, integrate and test software.
• Preferred: experience supporting real-time or distributed systems with RTI/DDS publish/subscribe middleware.
• Preferred: experience with the Open Service Gateway initiative (OSGi) framework.
• Preferred: CompTIA Security+.
• Preferred: experience with XML for data exchange and configuration files.
• Preferred: experience with Eclipse, VS Code or similar IDEs for Java and C++ development.
• Preferred: experience with external interfaces such as MIL-STD-6016 (Link 16), Blue Force Tracker (BFT), IBS, ADS-B or similar tactical data links.
• Preferred: radar track management experience on prior programs.

Conditions

Secret clearance is required to start.

Travel is required for about 10% of the time.

Primary level base salary range: $87,600.00 to $131,400.00.

Secondary level base salary range: $108,800.00 to $163,200.00.

The ranges are a general guide. Base pay depends on the scope and responsibilities of the role, your experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
