Description

The company builds defense systems and runs a large-scale program. The team needs a Software Configuration Analyst or Principal Software Configuration Analyst to build, enforce, and maintain software configuration management (SCM) processes that follow the organization's standard process and contract terms.

You will help identify, control, report on, and deliver software, including in-house code and commercial, modified, and government off-the-shelf products.

You will help shape processes and infrastructure so the team can mature and deploy capability quickly while keeping a stable security posture and acting on stakeholder feedback.

You will connect SCM to development pipelines using automation, test-driven development tools, and CI/CD test frameworks, and support packaging, componentizing, or cloud-based provisioning and deployment.

The work follows agile practices with continuous feedback. SCM is applied alongside Quality and Mission Assurance (QMA), with automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Run and track software builds across development, integration, test, and release environments.
  • Set up, maintain, and control several baselines, including development, integration, test, and production branches.
  • Record software changes with clear descriptions, reasons, and impact assessments, linked to requirements, tickets, and baselines.
  • Control documentation for CM artifacts such as build instructions, release notes, configuration item lists, and CM plans, covering versions, approvals, and distribution.
  • Release build and baseline documents such as release notes, build manifests, and interface control documents, routing them for approval and storing them in the correct repositories.
  • Lead or support change control by preparing for Change Control Board (CCB) or Engineering Review Board meetings, presenting proposed changes, and recording decisions.
  • Confirm that all software changes and releases meet the program CM plan, standards, and organizational or customer requirements.
  • Work with software development, systems engineering, test, and integration teams so builds and releases are delivered smoothly.
  • Coordinate creation, release, and delivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), meeting contractual obligations and high technical standards.

Requirements

  • Hold an active Secret clearance at the time you apply.
  • Software Configuration Analyst: bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience.
  • Principal Software Configuration Analyst: bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience.
  • Hands-on work with software builds, such as build scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and build automation tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of managing multiple baselines, including branching, tagging, and merging strategies in Git or other SCM tools.
  • Proven record of documenting software changes, with clear descriptions, impact analysis, and traceability to requirements or tickets.
  • Experience supporting or leading change control, including CCBs, change requests, and recording decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and discipline in following established CM processes.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with cross-functional teams and external customers.
  • Preferred: experience defining or improving CM processes, standards, and templates.
  • Preferred: experience with the Agile framework.
  • Preferred: experience in a Department of War regulated or mission-critical environment, such as aerospace or defense.
  • Preferred: experience using MIS, DMDS or a similar data delivery system, SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence.
