Description

The company makes memory and storage products, and its SSD Engineering team builds the firmware, tools and infrastructure behind them for data center and enterprise customers.

The team relies on automation, CI/CD and AI-enabled practices to speed up firmware work, raise product quality and deliver dependable storage.

This intern role supports firmware engineers in modernizing how SSD firmware is developed by building automation, AI agents and CI/CD solutions for building, testing, integrating and validating firmware.

The focus is engineering productivity, intelligent automation and scalable workflows, not firmware feature work.

Responsibilities

• Create AI agents that improve how firmware is developed, tested, integrated and validated.
• Write and maintain Python automation for CI/CD pipelines, firmware builds, testing and releases.
• Study pipeline performance, test results and workflow data to find ways to improve quality, reliability and productivity.
• Bring AI-assisted tools and intelligent automation into current firmware engineering processes.
• Work with firmware, validation and software teams to assess, roll out and refine automation and AI-enabled development tools.

Requirements

• Have 0 to 2 years of experience from internships, research, coursework, academic projects, hackathons or software work in automation, AI, DevOps, firmware or software engineering.
• Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Program well in Python.
• Understand software fundamentals, debugging, automation and problem solving.
• Show interest in AI, AI agents, machine learning, intelligent automation or AI-assisted software development.
• Communicate clearly in writing and speech, and stay analytical and organized.
• Use AI tools and large language models such as Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or similar to work more productively in software development.
• Preferred: experience with embedded systems, firmware, SSD technology or large-scale engineering environments.
• Preferred: understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, source control or software delivery pipelines.
• Preferred: experience building automation tools, workflow solutions, scripts or engineering productivity tools.
• Preferred: familiarity with AI agents, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or LLM-based applications.
• Preferred: experience with Git, build systems, test automation frameworks, cloud technologies or software development lifecycle processes.
• Preferred: interest in applying AI to engineering workflows, failure analysis, test optimization and developer productivity.

Conditions

This is a full-time position.

The estimated US base salary range is $27.42 to $50.24 an hour.

Pay depends on role, level and location, plus individual factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and education, and the scale may change with business needs.

The base range excludes bonus, equity and benefits, which may be offered as additional compensation.
