Description

The company runs one of the largest networks on the Internet, serving websites from personal blogs to Fortune 500 firms. Its platform sits in front of any web application without new hardware, software installs, or code changes, and routes traffic through a global network that improves with each request, which customers see as better performance and fewer spam and attack incidents.

The Agentic Commerce team sits within Emerging Technologies & Incubation, where new products are built and released. The team builds infrastructure that lets AI agents pay for web content and services. Agents increasingly browse and act on the web, and payment and authorization systems designed for humans do not fit that use. The team's tools let owners charge for access to content, data, services, products, and outcomes wherever they are hosted.

The work combines high-throughput web infrastructure, low-latency transaction processing, usage metering, outcome verification, digital wallets, and agentic payment protocols such as x402, WBA, ACP, and UCP. The team links traditional fiat payment rails with decentralized protocols to support micropayments at Internet scale.

The team is small and works closely together, celebrates wins, supports people through mistakes, and holds itself to a high bar.

The company wants people who notice problems others have accepted, use current AI tools to build fixes, and share improvements with the whole team. Curiosity matters more than process to them.

You will join the Agentic Commerce team to build the core systems, protocols, and customer-facing tools for machine-to-machine payments, metering, and monetization. The role is based in Lisbon or London, on a hybrid model.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship production-ready, low-latency services that make web resources payable by autonomous agents, using x402, WBA, ACP, and UCP.
  • Build precise systems for usage metering, pricing, outcome verification, and value attribution for agent workflows.
  • Build secure protocols and APIs that authenticate and authorize buyers, sellers, and agents across host-agnostic endpoints.
  • Build APIs and features that give businesses detailed visibility, telemetry, and control over agent revenue, billing, and settlement.
  • Build reliable links between fiat payment rails, digital wallets, and decentralized or cryptographic payment protocols for micropayments at Internet scale.
  • Write clean, secure, well-tested code. Keep accounting and financial calculations exact, and push for reliability, security, and low latency.
  • Work with engineers, researchers, product managers, design engineers, and other the company teams to take features from concept to production.

Requirements

  • Strong grounding in software engineering and distributed systems.
  • Experience building and running reliable, high-throughput, low-latency production services.
  • Working knowledge of HTTP, APIs, payment protocols or rails, web security, or cryptographic authorization.
  • Hands-on experience with payment systems, usage metering, billing engines, digital wallets, or machine-to-machine protocols, or a strong interest in them.
  • Ability to prototype quickly, weigh architectural trade-offs, and ship in a fast-changing technical field.
  • Strong written and spoken communication.
  • Desirable: Fluency in Rust, ideally with async Rust, or experience with TypeScript or JavaScript edge runtimes such as the company Workers, Durable Objects, and KV.
  • Desirable: Experience with agentic payment protocols (x402, A2P, ACP, UCP, Web Bot Auth) or digital wallet architecture.
  • Desirable: Experience building high-precision metering pipelines, usage-based billing engines, outcome verification systems, or revenue attribution tools.
  • Desirable: Experience with smart contract bridges, cryptography (public-key encryption, signatures, hashes), or hybrid fiat and crypto payment infrastructure.
  • Desirable: Open-source contributions to payment systems, agent protocols, web standards, or distributed systems projects.
  • Desirable: A record of finding and fixing performance, concurrency, or transaction correctness problems.
