Description

The company sells B2B SaaS to metal recyclers, an essential but under-served segment, helping them win more deals, run plants more efficiently, and drop paper-based workflows.

The company is early stage and backed by climate-tech venture capital firms. The team is hiring at several levels, from engineers with a few years of experience up to senior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow the company's newest product line from nothing into software used on the plant floor.
  • Spend time with plant operators and managers, then design the database structure and application they will rely on.
  • Work closely with the CTO, product team, and end users to make architecture and design calls and decide what gets built next.
  • Own the whole product: data model, API, UI, UX, deployment, and ongoing iteration.
  • Design a multi-tenant domain model covering materials, loads, runs, equipment, and quality that still fits each customer's different process.
  • Build quick, reliable, validated data-entry flows for plant floor staff.
  • Create dashboards that managers use to make decisions every shift.
  • Visit operators and facility managers on site and meet with them weekly, turning what you learn into product decisions.
  • Connect new data sources to existing company data and customer systems such as ERP exports, scales, and plant controls.
  • Build and ship agentic features that surface trends in production and quality data, flag anomalies, and alert the right people.

Requirements

  • You bring strong fundamentals and the right mindset, and you have at least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, or 5+ years with technical project leadership for senior candidates.
  • You can turn a messy real-world process into a clean, normalized schema and explain why you made the tradeoffs you did.
  • You use types, clear boundaries, and domain language so invalid states are hard to express.
  • You are comfortable taking ambiguous problems from start to finish and finding solutions without being told what to do.
  • You have solid skills across databases, backend APIs, and frontend fundamentals.
  • You have strong quantitative and statistical grounding, so the numbers shown to customers can be trusted.
  • You move quickly, cut scope sensibly, and are happy talking to customers directly.
  • You write and speak clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues in a remote setting.
  • This role won't be a good fit if you need a large team to lean on, a slow and low-risk release process, or narrowly scoped work.
  • You don't need to meet every item to apply if the role excites you.
  • Bonus: experience with React, TypeScript, C/.NET, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
  • Bonus: you have worked in metals or materials recycling or another heavy industry and understand the people who run those operations.
  • Bonus: you have built ERP, MES, inventory, logistics, or other operations software where data-entry accuracy matters.
  • Bonus: you have built multi-tenant B2B SaaS where each customer's workflow varies.
  • Bonus: you have worked with plant or device data such as scales, PLCs, SCADA, MQTT, or ERP integrations.

Conditions

Fully remote within the US, working from anywhere in the country with overlap with East Coast hours, roughly 9am to 5pm ET.

Small, low-overhead team working directly with the CTO alongside product and business staff who know the industry well.

Frontend uses React and TypeScript; backend uses C and ASP.NET Core with PostgreSQL; infrastructure runs on AWS, Docker, and Pulumi.

Heavy use of Claude Code is expected, so you need to use it well. You must own and understand the code you ship, since AI speeds up the work but does not do the thinking.

Travel a few times a year for customer site visits and team get-togethers, either at the HQ in Worcester, MA or elsewhere.

You must be authorized to work in the US full-time. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $125,000 to $155,000, depending on experience level.
  • An employee stock option plan that grants meaningful equity.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited vacation plus sick time, guaranteed personal time, and public holidays.
