Software Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering

Description

The company is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager trading in all liquid asset classes worldwide, with a technology and data driven approach.

The team is small and experienced, and is building a bare-metal trading platform from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Take part in the team's on-call rota.
• Own the design, deployment, configuration and daily running of the physical infrastructure: servers, switches, storage and other specialised hardware.
• Own the trading application environment, built from artifacts that developers and researchers deploy continuously.
• Own the observability stack for the whole platform.
• Own the intent-driven system that manages every element as one coherent system.
• Work with traders, researchers, application developers, other internal teams and external service providers.
• Resolve complex issues in a critical production environment, applying quick practical fixes that are later turned into engineered solutions.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Show strong problem-solving skills and a solid grasp of computer science fundamentals.
• Have hands-on experience with Linux systems.
• Have a proven record of designing and delivering scalable systems in production.
• Have a deep understanding of systems design and reliability principles.
• Have experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Have experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Have a deep understanding of servers, switches and operating systems.
• Have expertise in synchronising and propagating ultra-precise timing signals.
• Have knowledge of low-latency systems, trading environments, market data or exchange protocols.
