Software Engineer - Research Platforms

Description

The company is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager trading across all liquid asset classes worldwide, with a technology and data driven approach.

You will join the Data Engineering team, which builds software that lets Quantitative Researchers reach and use data in both cloud and on-premises environments. The team partners with other engineering groups on data-intensive research workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and run distributed software that manages data across research environments.
• Make data access reliable and efficient for large-scale compute jobs.
• Tackle problems in data movement, data locality, performance and scale.
• Build services and tools for Quantitative Researchers and engineering teams.
• Strengthen the security, observability and resilience of data systems.
• Work with researchers and engineers to pin down requirements and ship practical solutions.
• Own systems from design and build through to production operation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience building and operating production software systems.
• Strong software engineering skills in Go, Python, C++, Rust, Java or a similar language.
• Experience designing distributed systems at scale, with a grasp of performance, concurrency, fault tolerance and reliability.
• Experience building services or platforms that other engineers use.
• Knowledge of large-scale storage, data movement or data-intensive computing workloads.
• Understanding of how storage and networking shape distributed system performance.
• Experience working across cloud and on-premises environments.
