Software Engineer (Java/Python) - AVP

Description

An intermediate-level role on the Mortgage Technology team, building and changing application systems and programs with Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and AI tools.

You will analyse systems, write code including AI integrations, and work with the business to turn technology into tools that support decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable applications in Java and Python that support mortgage trading, quantitative analytics, workflows and reporting.
• Work with the business, risk, product and other technology groups to connect platforms, find improvements and launch new products and processes.
• Oversee each stage of development, from analysis and design through build, testing and rollout, and support business users and operations.
• Use AI and GenAI to modernise workflows, automate analysis and surface new insights in mortgage technology.
• Tackle complex, high-impact initiatives by examining business processes, system flows and industry standards.
• Apply engineering standards to coding, testing, CI/CD, debugging and readiness for production.
• Advise and coach newer analysts and junior staff.
• Work with limited direct supervision, using your own judgement and autonomy.
• Act as the subject-matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• A bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science, engineering, mathematics or another related STEM field.
• Deep knowledge of Java, Python and container orchestration platforms.
• Hands-on experience analysing systems and programming software applications.
• A track record of managing projects and delivering them successfully.
• Working knowledge of consulting and project management methods.
• Ability to stay effective under pressure while handling deadlines and sudden shifts in expectations or requirements.
• You may also be given additional duties as needed.

Conditions

Full-time position based in New York, New York, United States.

Base salary range for this location: $121,200.00 - $181,800.00.
