Description

You will lead the Evidence Request Management team in the New York office. The team builds agents for an agentic automation platform used in audit and finance.

Gathering audit evidence from clients is slow and frustrating. Requests get tracked in spreadsheets, follow-ups happen over email, and the documents that arrive are often the wrong ones. The team is building agents that draft requests from the audit plan, check each incoming document against the request and the standards it must meet, and contact the client directly to fix problems. Auditors then receive only evidence that is ready to use.

These agents can run for days or weeks. They act for the firm towards people outside it, so they must decide when to act alone and when to bring in a person. The work is making that judgment reliable at the scale of the largest audit firms and their clients.

The company builds AI for audit and finance professionals. Its platform reasons across PDF, Word and Excel files and runs agents in the cloud over hundreds of documents at once, with a full audit trail for each step. The platform launched recently, so much of the design is still open. Over 600,000 professionals in 3,000+ organizations across 175 countries use the company's products, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and all Big Four audit firms. The company reported more than $1.4 billion in productivity savings for its customers in 2025. It raised a $100 million Series B led by Index Ventures at a $1 billion valuation and is a member of 1% for the Planet.

The evidence lifecycle, from first request to confirmed evidence, is owned by your team. It covers planning and requesting, validating documents against standards, conversing with clients, handing off confirmed evidence, and the client-facing portal, notifications and permissions.

The hiring process has five steps: a 30-minute online recruitment screen, a 30-minute online interview with the hiring manager, a 60-minute online system design interview, a 60-minute on-site product insight discussion, and a 30-minute online final interview.

Responsibilities

  • Set clear goals and let the team decide how to reach them.
  • Hire, develop and keep senior engineers in New York, and improve the team measurably each quarter.
  • Own the technical direction of the team from end to end, and stay hands-on enough to make hard technical decisions with credibility.
  • Build conversational agents that speak for the firm in a professional tone, resolve issues in plain language, and hand a question to an auditor when needed.
  • Work with audit experts to define what good evidence looks like for each request type, and track how often the agents catch what an experienced auditor would catch.
  • Decide which actions agents may take alone, which need auditor approval, and how every action toward a client is recorded.
  • Build long-running, event-driven systems and workflow state that handle partial deliveries, re-requests, deadline changes and rollovers between engagement periods.
  • Track cycle time, chase volume and first-time-right evidence, and raise the client experience to the same standard as the firm's.
  • Coordinate with the agent runtime, document intelligence and evaluation teams, product, design and audit experts, many of whom are in Amsterdam, to deliver one platform.
  • Lead the team's use of AI-assisted engineering, aiming for harder problems as well as faster delivery.

Requirements

  • 3+ years leading engineering teams, plus 5+ years as a software engineer.
  • A coaching, empowering leadership style and a record of hiring and growing strong teams.
  • Hands-on experience running agentic or LLM systems in production, including control loops, tool calling, human-in-the-loop review and evaluation, well enough to challenge your team's designs.
  • Experience building workflow-heavy products with multi-step state, notifications and permissions, ideally for users outside the customer's organization.
  • Strong grounding in software architecture, distributed systems, APIs and cloud-native development.
  • Good product judgment: you question how problems are framed, make roadmap trade-offs, and care whether customers succeed with what you ship.
  • Working fluency with AI coding tools and agentic harnesses, and a team that works measurably better because of them.
  • Comfort leading across time zones and offices, with clear written communication.
  • Experience with durable workflow engines such as Temporal, or with long-running event-driven systems in production.
  • Experience with document processing, including OCR, classification, structured extraction and their quality metrics.
  • Experience with conversational AI for external users, such as support agents or customer-facing assistants, including tone, safety and escalation.
  • Experience with case management, ticketing or client portal products, and with email, file sharing or ERP integrations.
  • Experience running agent evaluations in practice: datasets, offline and online experiments, and failure classification.
  • Experience in regulated domains such as audit, financial services or healthcare, where traceability, approvals and access control are required.
  • Experience with governance at scale: permissions, approvals and data access across many enterprise customers and their clients.
  • Experience working with forward deployed engineers, solution architects and go-to-market teams, turning lessons from enterprise rollouts into platform features rather than one-off fixes.
  • Experience with Python, Azure and observability tooling.
  • Domain experience in audit (PBC and engagement operations), accounting or fintech is a plus.
