The Infrastructure Engineering team works toward reliability, performance, and efficiency on a single opinionated technology stack. It provides a scalable, automated base for compute, deployments, storage, and messaging so developers can ship faster and systems stay resilient.

This central role fills openings on several teams. Messaging builds a reliable, fast, and efficient platform for asynchronous communication across all products and services. Site Defense builds systems that detect and stop bots, scraping, and abusive traffic while keeping the experience steady for real users. Infrastructure Security builds service identity, secrets management, and secure access so the infrastructure is secure by default.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science, and iOS, Android, and Web client engineers to turn business and user needs into low-latency technical solutions that hold up in production.
• Take major product initiatives from start to finish, including technical design docs, API contracts, development, testing, rollout, and observability.
• Design, build, and assess A/B experiments. Use BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase to study user behavior, conversion funnels, and retention, and let that data guide engineering decisions.
• Build and maintain scalable APIs using GraphQL, REST, and gRPC, along with distributed backend services tuned for client use and the performance of the consumer UI.
• Set engineering standards, improve developer workflows, mentor teammates, and use modern tools, including AI-integrated ones, to deliver high-quality work efficiently.
• Day to day, you will select, scope, and drive high-leverage projects that support the company's goals.
• Carry out a strategy and build a faster, more scalable, higher-quality architecture for authentication, authorization, and identity.
• Mentor, coach, and work alongside other technical contributors.
• Work with a range of cross-functional teams across the company Engineering.
• Grow your technical and non-technical skills.

Requirements

• Have 3+ years of experience building internet-scale software.
• Preferably, have a focus on distributed systems infrastructure or infrastructure security.
• Be skilled in at least one general-purpose language such as Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
• Have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, and GCP.
• Have hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes in distributed messaging systems.
• Communicate well with stakeholders in engineering, data science, machine learning, and product.
• Hold a degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.

Base salary is one part of pay. The role is also eligible for restricted stock units and, depending on the position, may be eligible for a commission.

Base salary ranges are shared for all US-based postings in every state. Standard ranges are set by function, level, and country and benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Final offers depend on factors such as skills, depth of experience, and relevant licenses or credentials, so they may fall outside the range below.

The base salary range for this position is $164,000 to $229,000 USD.
