Description

This Software Engineer III role covers software components and applications from requirements and design through coding, testing and maintenance.

The work sits within a team that includes stakeholders and technical staff, and the role guides others on current practice.

The position is based at the company's Sunnyvale, CA site.

Responsibilities

  • Advise others on current best practices and how to apply them, and build support for your views and reasoning.
  • Gather business, stakeholder and technical requirements, and review existing solutions to see how they meet them (per iteration when working in agile).
  • Maintain a requirement traceability matrix that links business requirements, functional requirements, designs and test cases.
  • Help write user stories for components, modules and simpler requirements, such as those driven by scalability, when working in agile.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, identify business needs, set up and run the processes required, track progress and results, and spot chances to improve. Adjust to shifting priorities, organisational changes and new duties.
  • Write lean code for complete components and applications, making sure they meet business, technical and non-functional needs, including maintainability, availability and scalability.
  • Help choose programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python and C), development standards and tools (such as Monday.com, Linx and Embold).
  • Learn the basics of new languages and frameworks that may be useful for future work.
  • Write automation scripts for repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD, testing or other processes where applicable.
  • Build telemetry features as needed, working independently.
  • Apply security policy requirements during code development and configuration.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and ethics and integrity standards in planning and day-to-day work. Use the Open Door Policy and show others how to do the same.
  • Turn customer requirements into test objectives, design test cases for components and modules, and run them to find errors and defects across the whole component.
  • Run different types of testing with suitable tools for each testing need.
  • Track and analyse defects, and run regression tests after every code change to fix them. Review defects from past projects to prevent repeats.
  • Troubleshoot performance and availability bottlenecks, and carry out complex maintenance independently.
  • Track and analyse the right metrics to assess application performance. Carry out corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance, and re-engineering work.
  • Analyse application logs, maintenance data and performance data, and report your findings. Assess change requests to decide which are valid and feasible.
  • Keep the project on track against approved milestones and timelines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related area. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those areas plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience.
  • Experience with desktop and mobile web components, and building web features and applications.
  • Experience with front-end technologies: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js and React.js.
  • Experience with front-end testing and automation using Test Café, Selenium and Cucumber.
  • Experience building and testing applications that work across devices and browsers.
  • Experience building products designed for testability.
  • Experience with Mockito and JUnit.
  • Experience working in a team on development, code review, testing, documentation and code structure.
  • Experience with Java, Python, Maven, Git, Jenkins, Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience troubleshooting live applications and assessing end-to-end functional performance bottlenecks on dWeb and mWeb.
  • Any amount of experience with the required skills is accepted.
