Description

The company provides payments, data and financial products in one solution to customers including Meta, Uber, H&M and Microsoft.

The company is hiring full-time Kotlin engineers to develop its in-person payments solution.

The team works on a large, varied fleet of payment terminals and payment SDKs already in the field, adding new features and payment methods.

Your code will run across these solutions through Kotlin Multiplatform, so Kotlin is central to the work.

Responsibilities

  • Build solutions for payment terminals and payment SDKs, including card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay on mobile phones, and QR code payments.
  • Build and maintain payment features for global merchants.
  • Connect payment software to a range of cash registers using modern standards.
  • Develop the core business logic in Kotlin for Android and Linux payment terminals and the backend.
  • Contribute to the C++ libraries at the centre of the payment logic.
  • Test code at every level, from unit tests to full product tests run by automated programmable robots, so merchants get a stable, feature-rich product.

Requirements

  • Work as a motivated, enthusiastic team player with engineers, product designers and business stakeholders.
  • Write reliable, clearly understandable code.
  • Be eager to learn and improve.
  • Stay flexible and open to new ideas.
  • Notice fine details.
  • Debug and solve problems in Android applications, and work well on cross-functional issues.
  • Suggest ideas that improve the solution.
  • Explore new technical options while working within existing frameworks.
  • Manage and prioritise your goals with self-discipline, and enjoy a fast pace.
  • Have 5+ years of experience writing Kotlin code.
  • Be proficient in building software for Android.
  • Have experience developing enterprise-level SDKs.
  • Have expert knowledge of Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Gradle and Dependency Injection.
  • Have written and maintained a comprehensive suite of automated unit and integration tests.
  • Take personal accountability, combining strong technical skills, creative problem-solving and a collaborative spirit.
  • Want to mentor and grow other engineers through code reviews, design reviews and over-the-shoulder debugging.
  • Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Good to know: experience with a non-JVM language such as C or C++.
  • Good to know: experience building libraries used by other engineers.
  • Good to know: knowledge of security best practices and standards.
  • Good to know: experience working with Bluetooth-connected devices.
  • Good to know: experience in the payment industry, which is a plus but not a must.
