Description

The company is building a global digital sports platform that serves fans across commerce, collectibles, and betting and gaming, with a Sportsbook and iGaming product in development.

Its platform reaches more than 100 million sports fans through roughly 900 sports properties, 2,500 athletes and celebrities, and over 2,000 retail locations, and the company has more than 22,000 employees.

The collectibles unit is a newer business at the crossover of collectibles, culture, and technology. It is backed by outside investors and sports and entertainment partners, and it is building a marketplace for next-generation collectibles.

This is a hands-on Android engineering role on the team that builds tools and systems for the marketplace. You will work between engineering and marketplace operations, supporting collectors and sellers and improving daily marketplace work.

You will work with engineers, product managers, and Marketplace Operations staff to turn operational problems into scalable technical solutions. The role suits someone who likes real problems and understanding how systems behave in production.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, maintain, and improve Android apps and features that support the collectibles marketplace and its operations team.
  • Create internal tools that help operations staff run marketplace workflows more efficiently.
  • Work with Marketplace Operations to learn their pain points, find root causes, and turn their needs into technical work.
  • Investigate and fix problems in the Android app and the systems behind it.
  • Reduce manual effort through automation, tooling, monitoring, and easier access to the information teams need.
  • Spot recurring operational issues and build fixes that stop them from coming back.
  • Debug production issues using logs, monitoring, analytics, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Work with product managers and engineers to decide whether an issue needs a technical fix, a product change, or a process change.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and review other engineers' code.
  • Help improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of the Android app.
  • Join technical discussions and suggest improvements to architecture, tooling, development practices, and operational workflows.
  • Write and maintain documentation on tools, processes, and common issues for engineering and operations teams.
  • Help build, test, release, and verify solutions through production.
  • Balance planned engineering work against operational needs and new marketplace issues.

Requirements

  • Professional software engineering experience, with a focus on Android app development.
  • Experience building Android apps in Kotlin using current Android practices.
  • Working knowledge of Android architecture, app lifecycle, networking, data storage, and UI development.
  • Experience using APIs and connecting mobile apps to backend services.
  • Familiarity with testing, debugging, source control, code review, and modern development workflows.
  • Ability to investigate technical issues, find root causes, and design practical fixes.
  • Experience using logs, monitoring, analytics, or similar tools to understand how an app behaves.
  • Ability to own a defined technical problem and see it through to resolution.
  • Good judgment about when to solve a problem yourself and when to bring in other engineers or partners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with non-engineering colleagues describing operational problems.
  • Interest in improving processes and using automation to remove repetitive or inefficient work.
  • Ability to juggle several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Curiosity about marketplaces, commerce, collectibles, and the systems behind them.
  • Success looks like operations teams having better tools, recurring issues being easier to find and fix, manual work falling where sensible, and marketplace problems leading to lasting improvements rather than one-off patches. You will also build a solid understanding of how the collectibles marketplace operates and use it to find where engineering can help most.

Conditions

Collectors can buy and sell collectibles, join Buy Now listings and curated auctions, store items in a vault, track bids and grading submissions, and use related services, all in one marketplace.

Los Angeles base pay range: $130,000 - $165,000 USD.

New York City base pay range: $145,000 - $180,000 USD.
