Description

The company builds an observability platform that helps businesses understand how their complex systems behave, and it is now extending that into AI-driven experiences.

You will join the Personalization team, which is starting a greenfield project.

The team's stack is Java 25, Spring, GraphQL, NoSQL, Kubernetes, Kafka and AWS.

The work focuses on learning how people use the product, both in classic interfaces and in newer agentic conversations, and turning that into models that let the experience adapt to each user.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and scale backend services and Kafka-based streaming pipelines that process user behavior data on AWS.
  • Turn behavioral signals into segments and models that other parts of the platform rely on.
  • Design microservices and APIs that make user segments and behavioral models available to classic and agentic surfaces.
  • Take part in architecture discussions and make sound judgment calls on moderately scoped problems.
  • Build, deploy, roll back and run your team's software, including taking a turn on on-call.
  • Automate manual operations work with new tooling to make systems more resilient and easier to run.
  • Use AI coding assistants and agents in your own workflow, from code generation and review to production troubleshooting, and help the team adopt what works.
  • Give useful, service-aware feedback and join engineering communities of practice.

Requirements

  • Strong Java skills, enough to design, build, test and ship small to medium features and bug fixes end to end with little or no help.
  • Hands-on experience building Kafka-based streaming pipelines and services in a production AWS environment.
  • Experience with distributed systems, concurrency and scaling, plus familiarity with asynchronous patterns such as streams, event-driven flows, task queues and message queues.
  • Current, daily use of AI coding assistants and agents, with an interest in improving how you work.
  • A collaborative style that brings colleagues into key decisions and builds shared code ownership.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity in an iterative way, while keeping day-to-day work aligned with broader strategy and architecture.
  • English proficiency.
  • Nice to have: experience designing GraphQL APIs or microservices architectures at scale.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with Kubernetes concepts and reasoning about how production systems behave.
  • Nice to have: experience with distributed data processing in the cloud (Spark, Hadoop/Hive, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) or with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
  • Nice to have: solid grasp of data modeling, such as dimensional modeling and normalization, especially for behavioral or user segmentation.
  • Nice to have: proven experience evaluating, benchmarking or building custom agentic AI tools, prompt workflows or developer automation.
  • Nice to have: exposure to recommendation systems or to building context for agentic or LLM-based experiences.
  • Nice to have: open source contributions or a strong interest in build and test automation.
  • Nice to have: experience with SQL performance tuning or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
