Description

You will lead the Intelligence Logic group, which builds the next generation of robotic systems for endovascular procedures.

The work combines real-time image analysis that guides devices, computer vision, and software that models, predicts and automates (neuro)endovascular procedures.

The company is a medical technology business with more than 72,000 staff in over 70 countries, and the team works in an international setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach developers working on computer vision and AI imaging, and on workflow orchestration, and set the technical direction for both.
  • Plan the technical roadmap for linking AI image analytics, sensor fusion and localization, and workflow engines that coordinate imaging and robotics in the interventional suite, while supporting the development teams in Germany.
  • Oversee the building and evaluation of deep learning methods for real-time segmentation, registration, and object detection and tracking, along with state machines and digital models of (neurovascular) procedures.
  • Work with computer vision, robotics, clinical and hardware colleagues to run clinical workflows safely, including failure detection and uncertainty estimation.
  • Manage priorities, sprint planning and delivery milestones, clear blockers, and make sure the team applies DevOps and MLOps practices across the full life of software and machine learning models.
  • Work with multi-modal data from minimally invasive therapy, including x-ray fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, (cone-beam) computed tomography, robotic data and endovascular device shape sensing.
  • Work within a regulated medical device environment alongside cross-functional experts.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree and 6+ years of experience in biomedical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, robotics or a related field.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers or developers, such as a technical lead, team lead or similar people management role in a software or R&D organization.
  • Strong background in computer vision and medical image analysis, covering segmentation, registration, and object detection and tracking.
  • In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art deep learning methods.
  • Strong grounding in robotics, including state estimation and sensor fusion, plus working knowledge of control theory such as model predictive control.
  • Experience building machine learning models in modern frameworks such as PyTorch, and applying MLOps across the whole model lifecycle.
  • Experience programming in Python and C++/CUDA, and software engineering with DevOps best practices.
  • A PhD is highly preferred.
  • Scientific publications in top-tier venues such as IEEE TMI, CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, MICCAI or comparable are a plus.
  • Very good written and spoken English for communicating in an international environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a technically diverse team around shared goals.
  • Creative, with the drive to develop new ideas that improve solutions in image-guided automation.
  • Good organizational skills, initiative and curiosity to learn.

Conditions

The base pay range is $114,920 to $158,015. Starting pay within that range depends on factors such as geography or market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications.

If the role is commission eligible, commissions follow the company plan and are based on individual performance, company performance, or both.

You must be able to work with controlled technology under US export control law; the company complies with the EAR, ITAR and OFAC sanctions regulations.

The company is committed to equal employment opportunity and provides reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, and long-term and short-term disability insurance, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Paid parking or public transportation, paid time off, and paid sick and safe time.
